I've got a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD drive plugged into a Seagate FA GoFlex Desk USB3 adapter.

When plugging into the USB2 port on the ASUS RT-AC68U router (Running 3.0.0.4.374.38_1), it detects and mounts the drive without issue:

However, if I dismount and plug the unit into the USB3 port, bad juju:

I take it ASUS is still working out the bugs with the USB3 stuff? I know their latest beta has some USB3 fixes and those haven't been integrated with the merlin builds yet?

Seagate USB drive

I had the same problem. My Windows7 system detects it as USB3.0 but the RT-AC68U does not. I had the same experience you did. Fortunately I had another drive (WD) that the router detected as a USB3.0 device.

On another site someone posted that the issue was with the Seagate drive. There is an issue with its detection of a USB3.0 port connection.

Seagate=FAIL
WD=SUCCESS

I tried a different USB 3 interface with that Samsung SSD drive, but still no love, so this isn't just a Seagate issue.

Hopefully RMerlin's next build will include some of the recent ASUS fixes (and hopefully those fixes will help this issue).
