Unexcusable cheap router QOS works better than my more expensive Asus RT-AC5300 router

I went to go buy a cheap TP-LINK AC1750 Archer C8 router to test it to see if QOS would work better with IDM and it does. When downloading from anywhere, even Google Drive, my download speed slows down with QOS enabled on the router while streaming live tv with my Roku. No buffering or lag with the streaming tv.

So disappointed.

Lot of vendors do try... not an easy problem to solve, as every connection is different, and use cases at the customer level...

FWIW - on an older project - we implemented Hierarchical Fair Service Curve (HFSC), self detecting upstream/downstream tests to a known good host one time, and adjusted accordingly - tossing in CODEL on the upstream after the fact as many connections are asymmetric...

User feedback was very positive.

Well I am going to buy 3 to 4 different routers and testing the difference.

Only way to know for sure.

That would include moderation in moderation, which would mean not all things in moderation....! o_O

@ng4ever How is your Asus QoS configured?

Yes, my regret for my attempt at levity regarding moderation humor, which is not always amusing when your post is hung up in moderation consideration. Cheers.
