I have not seen these before with my RT-N66U, but they are appearing in large numbers, over and over in the AC87R. What are they related to?

First one is already discussed in these forums, do a search with that error message. Bottom line: it's caused by QoS, and something that has been there in Asuswrt for years, it's not specific to the RT-AC87U.

The latter is also caused by the (new) QoS engine. I was also experiencing these, so I disabled iQoS for now, and reported the issue to Asus development.

BTW, Asus tracked down the cause of the vlan2 dead loop errors, and will fix it in the next firmware release.

Merlin I have QoS turned off yet I am still seeing that error message in my system log. What is up with that?

Which one exactly, the vlan2 dead loop one, or a different one?

OK so I enable iQoS and then disable it and guess what? You got it, no more vlan2 dead loop error message.

I have the same vlan2 dead loop error, but I don't have QOS enabled. I tried enabling it and then disabling it and it still wont go away. It floods my log.

My QOS has been off for a week and I get this loop error everyday.
Yep. It is back for me also after trying to turn iQoS on and then off again. Made no difference apparently. Here it is:

Aug 6 19:46:23 kernel: Dead loop on virtual device vlan2, fix it urgently!

Keep in mind the DPI engine isn't just used for QoS, it's also used for various other features such as the new traffic monitoring page. I suspect that using that page (especially if you enable Apps Analysis) might enable the engine, and cause the issue to happen.

Try running the following commands to resolve it (note that it won't survive a reboot or a network service restart on your router):

Code:
tc qdisc add dev vlan2 root pfifo

If using my firmware you could try inserting it inside a wan-start or a firewall-start script (not sure which is best location as I'm not sure in which scenario the traffic classifier gets reconfigured).

Wouldn't it just be easier to turn apps analysis off? I forgot that it was even on and must have left it on accidentally after turning off the iQoS.

Update: Apps analysis may use that engine but the error message is still showing up in the system log with both iQoS and apps analysis off.

Same issue

Already try different suggestions. 1. I have never turn on the adaptave QoS on my router, and shows that error. 2. Try by turn it on with the app analysis and still show this error. 3. Try again turn it off both and still show the error. 4. Try a factory reboot as suggested by ASUS support and stills show.

My question, what happens if i dont fix this issue?

If you don't encounter any problem, then probably nothing serious.

The rule I posted does resolve the issue, I've been using it for over a week now.

Also have the kernel: Dead loop on virtual device vlan2, fix it urgently

Running merlins latest FW, with QOS and Traffic monitor both off.

Merlins rule does work, but sadly like he mentioned, if you reboot router, the rule gets wiped.

Installing RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_376_2678 on the AC87U now, will see if it permanently fixes this issue, as merlin said early August that Asus was aware of this, and wold be fixed in the next firmware (this is the 2nd one released since that post, so lets hope its fixed).

Was this fixed in the new firmware?

"Dead loop on virtual device vlan2, fix it urgently!" has disappear completely. The only thing I did different besides having now my QoS and app analysis running.I disconnected USB hardrive from the router and that made the error disappear. Everytime I connect anything to any of the two USB ports the error re-appears.
