Hi,

Anyone else having problems with 2.4G wireless after updating to 3.0.0.4.372?

It constantly drops in speed and/or looses connection.

Didn't have similar problems with the previous version.

My 2.4G settings are default except for using AES WPA-2 and having it fixed on channel 11.

I cleared NVRAM before and after updating. Rebooting the router gets it working again, but only for a few minutes/hours

Check with InSSIDer in case some neighbour of yours might have plugged a shiny new router and blasting it on channel 11 as well.

I hate saying this because up till Tuesday I loved my rt-n66u but every now and then the 2.4ghz band would slow down. I then got a Netgear r6300 at a great great price and it has been excellent.
The range seems to be as good if not better than the asus. Maybe asus should investigate Netgear.

No neighbours within reach of a wireless network.

I have also tried other channels and even setting it back to auto. Same result :-(

Hmmm,
Updating for update's sake? My rule of thumb is update only when you have to for a reason. If all is swell why bother with updating all the time and create headaches? LOL!

Or perhaps you update before something is not functioning to be prepared for any problems in the future. I worked just like that and put on fixes even if I had no problems just to working to fix any problems before they happened ....

Should mention that 5G is working very stable. It is only 2.4G that causes problems.

Guess I will go back to previous version, or maybe back to my old Netgear router that at least were stable....

How many computers are having problems? Have you tried a different computer? Try removing you old wireless profile from your computer. Check for an updated wireless adapter driver. Uninstall/reinstall your wireless adapter.

I am having problems with all 2.4G devices (laptops, iPhone, Andriod tablet, etc..).

I have tried assigning new SSID to the 2.4G network and deleting/updating profiles on all devices. No luck :(

Wireless drivers are up-to-date on all devices where I can check/update them.

Devices having problems on 2.4G works perfect on 5G (e.g. one of my laptops and my Andriod phone). Unfortunately, I have devices that are 2.4G only, so I cannot swith all to 5G.

Sorry to say, but I will have to dig out my old Netgear router until ASUS gets the 2.4G stable.

Really hate to do this as the router is really good, but this 2.4G instability is driving me mad...:(

Hi,

the same behavior at me after update to actually firmware.
The 2.4G net is going slowly down and then off.

I didn´t have this problem before updating.

I've been having the same problem as well. 2.4 will work (sometimes not very fast), then will completely not work (5 and wired will work fine). I have to reboot at least once a day.

I should mention I'm using the Ac66u.

I should mention I'm using the Ac66u.

I have to telnet:restart_wireless several times a day, If I'm not near a computer, I have to access the web interface and restart the router.

But It seems like this is only a problem on my media bridge, my AP seems very stable.

Both are AC66U

Glad to see that I am not alone...

Having google'd around. I can see that loads of people are having 2.4G problems regardless of the firmware version.

This just isn't good enough on a top-of-the-pops router
