Upgrade from 378.55_0 to 378.56_2

I'm having trouble upgrading the AC68U firmware from 378.55 (current build is Fri Jul 17 03:17:04 UTC 2015 merlin@05199da) to 378.56_2 on my TM-AC1900. The web interface throws an error when attempting to upload the file. Bootloader version is 2.1.2.5. Any idea what I should try to do?

Hi,

What is "an error" saying?
Did you unzip the firmware file?
Reboot (with no USB device attached) to have enough RAM for the update!

Hi Joe, the error is: "Firmware upgrade unsuccessful. This may result from incorrect image or error transmission. Please check the version of firmware and try again." Yes, I did unzip and uploaded the trx file. Also tried to upload from a couple of different machines and browsers. I'm also getting the same error using the latest official AC68U firmware from Asus. I did try rebooting first and have 178 MB of memory free, still got the same error. I do however have a USB LTE modem attached, so I will try removing it when I get home.

Looks like there is something going on regarding cross updates of routers...

Could be that Asus is locking down this kind of cross flashing (same as transmission power and channel list).

I saw a similar posting some days ago, where Merlin gave a vague answer in this direction...
