USB 3.0 hub not working on router's USB 3.0 port

Hello,

I have an ASUS RT-AC68U with merlin's firmware 374.43_2, 2xHDD WD My Book with USB 3.0 and a USB 3.0 hub.

When I am connecting the USB hub to the router's USB 3.0 port, NO devices are seen by the router.
If I connect the hub to the USB 2 port, all the devices are seen properly, but are limited to USB 2 speed.

I have tested the USB HUB on my computer and is works properly (on USB 3.0).

When the feature supporting USB hubs has been implemented, it was done just for USB 2?

Is there a way to make both of my HDDs work on USB 3.0?

Disable the "Reduce USB 3.0 interference" option under Wireless -> Advanced. That option is enabled by default, and forces the USB3 port to work at USB2 speed. Some devices don't like that (actually, a lot of them it seems), and they will fail to mount.

That option is disabled.

I have checked now the logs:

Code:
Jul 22 19:49:31 kernel: usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 11
Jul 22 19:49:31 kernel: hub 2-1:1.0: USB hub found
Jul 22 19:49:31 kernel: hub 2-1:1.0: 4 ports detected

Does this mean that the router recognizes the hub as USB 2 instead of USB 3?

Edit:
OK, I left the USB hub on USB 3 port and connected to it just USB 2 devices and they work. If I connect a USB 3 device, it fails.
Is there a specific USB 3.0 hub that you recommend?

I'm not sure Asus has done any validation regarding USB 3.0 hubs, so I don't know if they are officially supported.

I had the same problem. I did find one HUB that works in the USB 3 port.
AmazonBasics 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub with 5V/2.5A power adapter. I use it with the power adapter.

I just bought the USB HUB you recommended, but it does not work on USB 3.0 port. It works only on USB 2 port. I tried both with and without the power adapter.

The speed on USB 2 is 25MB/s and on USB 3 is 35MB/s, so I do prefer to have my HDDs on the fast port.

Is there anything else I can try to make it work, or I return this HUB like te previous one?

help- did anyone get USB 3.0 hub to work on ac68

I am having the same problem. I attached an iogear 4port powered USB 3.0 hub, connected my HDD and it is not recognized by the router (AC68u). The HDD alone was recognized by router as USB 3.0. I had the same log seeing the hub.

Any ideas?

my firmware: was Merlin v 376.45 then updated to 376.47 and still no mounting of HDD via Hub????

Please help.!!

I have had the 7-port Amazon Basic 3.0 USB Hub for a couple of years now. It was working fine, until I moved my laptop - a Sony Vaio, and the hub. When I came to set everything up again, the Amazon USB Hub was not being recognized, other than generating a 'Power Surge on Unknown USB Hub' warning on Windows 10. I changed the usb-to-hub cable which came with the hub for the one on my former 3.0 hub that this Amazon one replaced, and it was all back to normal and working fine again. So a bad cable, perhaps kinked in the office move, was the simple problem.
