USB Attached Storage Issue

Hi guys, can anybody explain why my USB attached storage keeps disconnecting from my router when downloading files from the internet?

I have been downloading torrents using the built in download manager and it seems to work ok for awhile, then the USB storage just disconnects itself. I can usually get it started again by turning the power off for a min and turning back on. Could this be an overheat issue?, or could it be to taxing on the router?

Router is RT-N66U and I'm currently using Merlin 378.52_2 which is pretty stable for my environment. I'm using basic wireless functions.

What are the ideal settings for the download manager, could I just not have it set up correctly? I have an unlimited internet package so I can't see that being the problem unless my ISP is throttling me. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If MiniDLNA is running, make sure you're not downloading directly to the MiniDLNA media folder or subfolders, as this would generate INotify events before the torrent is completely downloaded. This would trigger frequent MiniDLNA re-scans and may cause other issues. Use a temporary/incomplete folder for the download manager somewhere outside the MiniDLNA media folder hierarchy.

I had an issue where plugging or unplugging a USB disk would trigger a MiniDLNA re-scan. I think this had apparently overloaded the system and caused problems due to high CPU usage. It would re-mount the USB disk as read-only or disconnect. My issue was fixed by disabling the re-scan that happens when MiniDLNA starts up.

Very timely, thanks. I've been pawing at a problem transcoding a video file to a USB drive connected to a 66U running 52.2, and the folder is the MiniDLNA folder . It throws off an error after a good long time, unmounts the drive, locks up the router and interrupts internet access.
So, I will poke at this.

Yea I'm not sure how you disable it either, can you please explain how this is done.
