Sorry to resurrect an thread from the dead but i just wanted to give an update from a new side.

I came upon this thread a few days ago and thought it was worth a try after i upgraded my Synology 918+ using a 2.5G adapter to have 2.5G ethernet speeds which works great.
So i thought why not try this with my AX86U Pro and i bought the same adapter from amazon around 20 euro i think its a Realtek 8156B chipset but not 100% sure.
After receiving it and plugging it in my router it instantly recognized it as being an extra adapter and turned dual WAN on which was not what i wanted.
So after some fiddling i changed my main WAN port to the USB adapter under > WAN > Internet connection > Enable USB mode.
Once this was done i hooked up my modem which has 1 2.5G port from this port to my USB adapter and used the build in 2.5G port from the router to send the signal to a cheap 2.5G 8 port network switch with behind it my PC and NAS which both also have 2.5G connection everything seems to work fine right now and i do not YET have an 2G+ internet connection from my provider.
But i do have a 1G down and 100Mb up connection and it seems to pull this full connection speed without any problems and my router does not seem to mind the extra USB dongle seeing the CPU output only spiked once to about 63% when doing a speedtest for the full 1G connection.
Hopefully this helps out anyone that is looking for the same solution i,am running firmware 3004.388.8_4
