Hi,

After installing ASUS RT-AC66U my SIP adapter Linksys SIP 3012 went crazy.
It worked fine on my previous Linksys E4200 router. But on ASUS I started getting busy tone when picking up my phone. And "Registration State" goes from "Registered" to "Registration failed" in my SIP adapter.

Rebooting SIP adapter doesn't help. I have to reboot modem, router and then SIP itself. It works for a day or so after that and then fails again.

Can the parameter "DHCP Server Lease Time - 86400" in ASUS router be responsible for that? 86400 is exactly 24 hours and its approximately when registration starts failing on SIP adapter again. Can I change DHCP Server Lease Time into 9999999 providing my IP from ISP is static anyway?

Also google advice that SIP ALG function in router should be disabled. I couldn't find SIP ALG there, but I found "Enable SIP Helper". Is it the same option?

Will running this command in router telnet will do the same as unchecking "Enable SIP Helper" option?

nvram set nf_sip=0
nvram commit
reboot

Thanks!

Usually, the SIP helper must be enabled if you use a SIP phone, and disabled if you host a PBX server (such as Asterisk).

I use a Cisco SP112 myself without any issue.

RMerlin - plesae can you advise where about I can find the SIP Helper in merlin build .41. Just got my RT-AC66u and since yesterday unable to use my phone. Every thing was working OK with WRP400 untill I added RT-AC66U. My voice option in WRP400 shows 'Regisration failed' under status.

Please see below for my step up.

Modem -
Connected to RT-AC66U via LAN to WAN

RT-AC66U -
Connected to WRP400 Cisco router/ATA via LAN to LAN
Changed default IP address to 192.168.14.1
Added Default Gateway under LAN settings as 192.168.14.1
Added DMZ of WRP400 default IP which was changed to 192.168.14.2
Added port forwarding 5060-5061

WRP400 -
Connected to RT-AC66U via LAN to LAN
Automation configuration -DHCP selected under Internet Setup
Network Setup - Default IP Address = 192.168.14.2
DHCP server = Enabled
NAT = Enabled
SIP Firewall = enabled
Wireless = Disabled

With the above settings, If I go into WRP400 status page the Internet Connection sections shows -
nternet IP Address : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway : 0.0.0.0

Please would appreciate your input on this, i have hard two days head wrecking trying to restore our home phone but no joy and the other half is loosing patience with me :)

thanks in advance, willing to give more info

I also have problems with PBX in flash.
Extension shows as connected but when I place call to check my voicemail *97 I get no audio.
I have latest version running on RT-AC68U
Where is SIP helper option? Could not see it under Firewall tab.

WAN -> NAT Passthrough tab

Cheers, that is enabled. Please can you have read at my setup as am still not able to get my phone working for three days now.

No idea, I'm not familiar with that WRP. I use a Cisco SPA-212 ATA myself, with zero router configuration required, and it's working fine.

Sorry for quoting my self:

b)
And another weird thing I have to disable "SIP Passthrough" in "WAN - NAT Passthrough"
to get my SIP device (phone) to work with "my" SIP gateway placed at my phone operator.
((I have disabled UPnP and use static portforwards by myself, used with my earlier router too))
Shouldn't it be the other way around "SIP Passthrough" enabled ?????
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I use SPA-3000 with RT-AC66U (and runs an Asterisk server too)
You might need to set UDP port forwarding and RDP port range forwarding.
'Rings ok but no Audio' is definitely a RDP port problem.
Anyway, DHCP is not likely the cause of the problem.

With recent 40,41 I had to reboot the router after change Port forwarding settings to have the change in effect.

BTW, what does "SIP Helper" actually do?
