I am using a Linksys/Cisco SPA-2102 ATA adaptor connected to a VoIP service, which works perfectly normally. If I connect the VPN client on the Asus RT-AC66U using the asuswrt-merlin firmware, the service works sometimes (dial tone/calling) and then stops. The VPN server I am connecting to supports VoIP, so I am wondering if it is something to do with the routing and/or NAT on the Linksys when the VPN client is active? The Linksys creates its own LAN subnet and treats the local network as a WAN, and uses NAT. Could the Asus be treating the Linksys traffic differently when the VPN client is active?
