VPN Client wont turn off after being on for few hours

i recently noticed that after i run my VPN client/s for a little while (more than 12 hours lets say) if i try to log in and turn it off it won't do it. in fact other features that require "Apply" the countdown parentage is taking much longer than usual and once it reaches 100% nothing happens. i get the following in the log:
