Hello everyone. I'm a new forum member but have been here reading for a couple of years. I am not new to routers using custom firmware.
I'm currently using an RT-AC56U with Merlin 380.57 and IPV for my VPN. Is there a way to configure Merlin to automatically reconnect to IPV using a PPTP VPN connection? I am getting randomly disconnected, sometimes once every day or two and sometimes more often. I can configure (and have configured) DD-WRT to do this but I like Merlin much more. If not, Merlin, can you add this feature to your to-do request list please?
Before someone flames me for using PPTP, the reason that I'm using it is because it is MUCH faster but still protects my privacy (to the extent that I need) and prevents my ISP from throttling my connection. OpenVPN (and L2TP) only gives me a throughput of 8-10 MBPS and I can get as high as 40 MBPS with IPV's PPTP (but typically at least 25). This matters to me because 1080P video streaming doesn't work well at 10 MBPS or less and Torrents take a LOT longer to download.
