VPN Speed and Temp Difference between 384.x and 386.x

These are my speed tests on astrill with 384.19. The first is over VPN and the second is with VPN disconnected. With 386.x firmware the 209 will drop down to 120-135 Mbps. Even if I try the factory reset or any kind of hard-wired setup.

As per astrill, there has been no changes to the configuration on their side. I believe @primitivo has summed up the parts well on the openvpn version etc.

PS: I'm on a 500 Mbps line.
 
Found this thread after a bit of digging...

I upgraded my RT-AC88U to 386.2_6 just over a week ago and since then I've been having VPN issues with performance being 25% of normal with UDP VPN connections and 33% of normal with TCP.
I tried with two different VPN providers, and tried servers all in various places in the country. The best d/l speed I could get was 1.5 where normally I get 6.

After downgrade today:

I've tried both NordVPN and IpVanish - both are slow on both UDP and TCP.
