VPN - VPN Client (PPTP/L2TP Client) 3.0.0.4.374.35_2

What dns adresses? On the iOS device itself? Or On the router?

On the router ... under the VPN --> VPN Details tab :

Set 'Connect to DNS Server automatically' to 'No'
and
manually key in your DNS Server IP addresses

Had the same problem with my iOS devices (i.e. can access internal devices but can't surf the net) until I manually keyed in the DNS server IP addresses into the PPTP configuration.

Or make the change in the Router, see attached pic.

And also they will change if they are dynamic.

The DNS servers' IP addresses provided by your ISP should be static, or you can use Google's 8.8.8.8

Nope, mine is already manually set in WAN but had that problem when I tunnel in from my iOS devices (iPad Air as well as iPhone 5S).

Need to also manually key in the DNS service IP addresses in VPN Details.

What i did was to revertir back to 270.26 and now it is working again without issue so I guess there is a lot of issues still On The NEW firmware with pptp server

I use 3.0.0.4.374.35_4-sdk5 and i works fine with me with all my devices!

I use, Iphone 5s, Ipad mini, PC

Sorry yes I had it configured before perfectly but after the upgrade to The la test firmware 35_4 the pptp server just can relay traffic to my devices

But why would the normal one would not work that is my question , did you did something when you upgraded???

I tested the PPTP client using VPNBook's free tunneling service, and it works fine, including Internet browsing. My public IP shows as VPNBook's.

If you can't browse the Internet once connected to a PPTP server, then the issue is on the server's side, not on the router. PPTP doesn't do much beside just connect to a remote endpoint, the router at that endpoint is responsible for routing your traffic.

Ok sdk5 is working but not the other version so you were Right

There should be no difference in relation to VPN code between both releases. SDK5 merely uses an older wireless driver and HW acceleration module. There's a good chance that what resolved your issue wasn't the FW change but the fact your router was rebooted after flashing.

well I had done the reboot several times and the only firmware that was working for me for some reason is the sdk5 is normal one would not relay traffic over the inter now I can do it with sdk5 I think I can stay with that without problems or would you suggest for me to get on going to the latest normal version 35_4 one and not the experimental? my router is rt-n66u

BTW, for some unknown reason, Asus disables mppe support on the PPTP VPN client. Since most remotes require mppe, you will see in your log an error message about MPPE being required but unsupported.

To force VPN clients to use MPPE, you can run these commands over telnet/ssh:

Code:
nvram set vpnc_pptp_options_x="+mppe-128"
nvram commit

Maybe it's because they were planning to add a webui for configuring PPTP client options but they haven't done so yet.
