Well. What does the firewall logging give you when accessing the server over SMB. If its a specfic entry, then you can filter for it.

Edit: I could not finding anything in the log when accessing.

Yeah that was my problem too, nothing logged :(

I've been wondering if theres a script similiar to this https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/WOL-Script-Wake-Up-Your-Webserver-On-Internet-Traffic, but when someone tries to access it over windows filesharing.

Currently I'm always waking it with my phone and a magic packet app, but I'd like to skip that step :D
I'm also welcome for any other idea to wake up the server comfortably.

Thank you
Am also interested in this. The RT-AC68u wakes up my Samba/Linux/Ubuntu file server beautifully, using the RMerlin Wake On Lan test option page. Have also added 2 port forwardings using the RMerlin config page , one called WakeOnLan7 and the other named WakeOnLan9, that forward ports 7 and 9 (Both TCP and UDP) to ports 7 and 9 of the target Samba server. My Samba/Ubuntu server works great with Windows clients for file sharing when it's awake. So what do we do from here to get the Linux box to wake up automagically when Windows clients want to access the Samba share on the Ubuntu target server?
