Occasional Visitor
i have been having WAN disconnections in evening with Start.ca Cable.
here is a link of the logs.
http://pastie.org/8546163

I set the DHCP query frequency = Normal.

When i spoke to them they wanted me to monitor it with a PC and will not troubleshoot with a Router log. can you help me figure out this one?

here is extract of log and it happened twice this evening and 5 times yesterday evening.

Can you tell us what you have tried so far on your end to resolve the issue, besides talking to your ISP?

Does this happen when you are connected to your modem directly from your PC?

What make and model of modem do you have?

Any info on signal strength of your modem with your ISP, etc etc?

Would be helpful to have as much info as possible.

Im only asking because I started having similar issues 2 weeks before buying Asus router. At the end of the day it turned out to be a bad modem (it died few days ago) and my cable company gave me a different brand of modem. And I no longer have any issues.

Thanks.

Seeing the errors related to QAM, it looks like an issue with either the ISP or the modem itself, as the modem is unable to connects its channels with the ISP. This would probably be visible by flashing lights on your modem while it occurs (I have a DCM475 myself BTW).

i connected directly to the cable with my vista machine and it has been stable for last 2 days. no disconnects at all. not a single drop on the ping for 2 days.

now, i am going to start this experiment next week by resetting my firmware and restoring to factory settings and post what i find.

i have a feeling that once you set the router to do dsl, you cannot switch to cable and vice versa without doing factory reset. I am just basing this on my challenges with the primus dsl until i did the factory reset.
