hello all. I have the Asus RT-AC68u for just a little over two months. Recently I have noticed not being able to connect onto the internet. After random drops for few days. I started to troubleshoot the problem. I had my ISP tech guy come and check the signal. He didnt see any problems at all. He did changed my modem and changed a piece of hardware on the pole in the street. The problem didnt go away. So what was happening... i started to noticed my modem light turning from all green to orange, then all back to green. I started to check on the Asus... and noticed the WAN Lease time is at 5 mintues. when the internet goes out, the Lease Expired happens after 2:30 (which is about right) Right now I am back on my old DLink router. Signal is fine. No internet drop. MOdem isnt trying to get an IP address.
So what happen?? is something wrong w/. my Asus? I called my ISP tech guy... and i asked why is my WAN Lease time at 5 mins. he said I should be able to change it... normally its 24 hours. Tired to tell him not LAN or WAN.. then he said then something is wrong with my router because I should be able to change it. DAMN techie... tried telling again its their end.. I gave up and said nevermind.
when all this was happen, I was using the latest firmware. now im using Merlin and I even used DD-WRT firmware too.
$200 and its not working. grrrrrr
right now i have the Asus setup as an AP and DLink as an Router. Originally I was using the DLink as AP....
