Want to switch to Merlin's firmware, guide available?

I want to switch over to Merlins firmware for my AC3200 to take advantage of the more advanced VPN Client features (I want to VPN only 1 device and not everything on the network).

Is there a guide for how to flash my router? Do/Can I back things up? What if there is a problem during the flash, does my router get bricked? Can I revert to the stock firmware if/when I want to?

Thanks

Ah, thanks RMerlin.

One question: The AC3200 isn't listed in the supported devices on that link, but it is listed here on this site's thread. Can I take it that it IS supported?

I see it listed under Supported Devices. Which page are you looking at?

Duh, I see it now. My wife always complains I couldn't see a barn right in front of me :)

You flash it has normal.
You download the zip file. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bkfq2a6aebq68/Asuswrt-Merlin
You unzip the file
and you flash it with the .trx = http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_FirmwareUpgrade_Content.asp

Finally if your router act weird after that "Factory default reset" http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_SettingBackup_Content.asp
and reconfig

Tadam! :)

Thanks! Very helpful on both of these. I will most likely flash tonight...
