My WD NAS is having issues connecting directly to my Asus AC87U. The ethernet connection is not being detected by the NAS. The NAS' ethernet port has LEDs and these LEDs stay off when connected to the router.
I am forced to use a switch as a go-in-between the NAS and router to get the NAS onto my network. I want to cut down the amount of cabling, so I am wondering if there's a way to get the NAS directly connected to the router.
I have contacted WD support, but they were not helpful. Others also had similar problem but the fix to use a switch (https://community.wd.com/t/cant-connect-my-cloud-using-att-uverse-1gig-fiber-service/140412/34).
I currently am running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61 (the latest one).
I also have UPNP enabled, alongside UPNP port-forwarding for all ports in the range of 1-65535 for both WAN and LAN. I am not sure what is going wrong.
When I connect the NAS to the switch, I immediately get this in the logs:
