It's in the form of an RCA plug, colour coded black, and it's a single plug labelled coaxial. The manual says something about an output for digital sound. I don't know what this is supposed to mean, or what can be connected to it. (When I've looked up coaxial on the web, they all seem to lean towards what I know as the RF plug). This TV has an RF input that the aerial is connected to. Xbox connected to the AV input. Satellite decoder connected to an HDMI input.

OK, that seems like a distinct possibility, and the first suggestion I've heard that sounds like it has a chance of being correct. Thanks.

OK, now I need to find an amplifier that can accept the input from this jack? Any possibilities anyone knows of?

is your cable hooked up to a cable box or directly to your tv?

if it is hooked into your cable box..you may want to output the sound to an amplifier from that..not from your tv.

Example:

My DVR has coax in... then component out for video..and optical for audio.. i tie those into my amp... and then the amp outputs to the tv.

(just my 2 cents) ..and btw most amps will have the input/output you're looking for.

That is a digital coaxial output. I've had that on something I've owned (although I can't remember what now). I have an input on my current sony amp for that. It's similar to S/PDIF except not optical. Haven't seen them used on anything in the last couple of years though.

For the right price, I'll be glad to sell you my sony amp with this input!
