Some times people miss the best and smarter solution : placing the router at the best location.
Most people just install the router at some room, the kitchen or the studio, commonly located at some extreme of the house, thus the signal must go thru 2 or 3 walls ti reach each station.
But if instead you install it at the top of a central corridor wall a signal maybe only need to go thru a single wall or door (easier too), with ppoe capable routers also you don't need to find an ac socket (most to link all ubiquity).
