I would suggest a different approach for @kamoj addon GUI:
Leave the NG interface untouched, and create a totally separate (parallel) kamoj interface that would give freedom on how to display things. Ideally, we would not have to use NG default web GUI anymore.
The parallel interface could be routerlogin.net/kamoj.htm or something like that.

Yeah a gui even just to show it's working would be nice... What we need is @kamoj to just make an entire new gui for the whole router as the stock Netgear one is the most outdated looking thing I've ever seen.

I could do that if @HELLO_wORLD want so. I like his Aegis a lot!

It is one way to do it.
In fact, we should meet half way. I should produce a simple HTML page (to display status first, and later even control aegis), and if page exits, your script could display it in a frame :)

The Netgear interface is the most unresponsive clunky thing ever... It's so outdated and my biggest gripe with stock firmware, it's a shame it can't be reskinned with something else.

I use Voxels firmware with Aegis to defend and Kamojs addon to block ads and allot more. I dont know if I want a completely new GUI. I like it a bit old school looking and with Kamojs addon it becomes art. It easy clean and allot of freedom.

To add to the pseudo-discussion of GUI:

It's not the GUI it self that is slow (because much of it is executed in your web browser!),
but the Netgear under laying parts (web-server, firewall, and not the least the infamous binary blob net-cgi...)
So even with a re-vamped GUI, it's probably still slow :(.

But there is at least one very clever user in this forum that had plans to change the GUI and correct tons of bugs
in the Netgear GUI chain. But not sure if it's possible to do, due to the amount of buggy and badly written code.
Time will tell.
