Hello,

I am attempting to connect two buildings. One is a three-story wired system and the other is a single story about 700 feet away.

There is no LOS between buildings. A repeater with an antenna could be used at a third building but the result is the requirement of three repeaters and each with antennas. The equipment cannot be outdoors (window to window.).

Someone could be hired to dig a trench and lay CAT6. This solution requires no reliance on equipment but could be expensive as a driveway and building separates the locations and wired networking's maximum cable distance is 100m (requiring the third building to be used again).

The project's budget is $1000 and half of that would be preferable. The target building is a five-desk 'office' (previously a /shed) and an objective is to add the building.

A cat5/6 run can have a cheap switch to regenerate the signal every 100m.
trenching is $$
you can't get on rooftops.
this is a tough one.

I'd see if there's cable modem service in both buildings and just get two modems. The cost to DIY on some other approach is high.

To do it on WiFi, we'd need some photos for the proposed paths.
