Will upgrading a RT-AC88u to Asus Be58u is good ?

Be58u much better hardware specs but limited to 2x2

88u is 4x4 but WiFi 5

My devices are all WiFi 5.

Reason is that my current 88u may not last forever . So I am thinking of upgrading.

Will the 2x2 Vs 4x4 affect range and coverage considering the be58u is a WiFi 7 router.

Currently it's going for $200 SGD in my country

Yes it's fast and range is better ...it has smartconnect but not the ability to fine tune it which is fine since separated the ssids

You can play with Smart Connect settings in Network Tools, Smart Connect Rule tab. ROG GUI may have some differences, but the settings must be there.

GL.iNet GL-MT6000 is a china product ? And what about security concerns? Routers in my country Singapore needs to go through a certification process by the authority for security features which Asus diligently follows . I am not sure if the router u mentioned is under that list

It's only sold online in my country which means that it's still originating from overseas delivery. Never seen them at retail shops , so i guess they are not approved for sale . I don't think they have a local service centre or HQ or anything in Singapore.

Well my point the particular router U are referring to has a good price to spec ratio and using open source software means it may not pass the certification to be sold in my country though one may be able to buy it and use it. But there other issues to consider such as warranty or even isp compatibility.

There is heavy usage of government apps and online infrastructure in Singapore. In Singapore U can practically apply for anything online without going to the govt office so as such they may require a certain level of security and not let certain devices compromise security in the chain .

I initially considered getting Xiaomi routers but certain discussions on forums suggest certain features of that Xiaomi routers, particularly the ones that can be hijacked sending information cannot be tweaked or disabled. I suppose these features can be tweaked in openwrt ect
