Just wanted to ask if OpenVPN maybe will be replaced completely by WireGuard in the Future on ASUS Routers ?

Since its newer and faster, but not really more secure then OpenVPN and some VPN Providers are going this Step too
and removing OpenVPN like Mullvad VPN till 2026:

OpenVPN and Wireshark have be side-by-side on asus routers for as long as I remember, and as far as I'm aware they will be well into the future (so long as OpenVPN servers are available at least)

Highly unlikely. OpenVPN can do a lot of things that WireGuard cannot, I see no reason for Asus to want to remove it. They still even support PPTP.

It will definitely never be replaced by WireGuard in Asuswrt-Merlin. OpenVPN is my primary focus and I actively develop for it, while WireGuard is largely there as a direct port from upstream, with very little changes from me.
