New Around Here
I've been having this issue lately where many of my devices that are both on wifi cannot connect to each other, but both have full internet access. For example, when trying to connect to my harmony hub from my phone, it doesn't see it as a local device and sets it to away mode to send commands through their cloud service. Even the router itself cannot be found by the Asus app on my Android phone but on my iPad which was previously configured for it, it connects just fine. (though it can't see it if I delete it and try to re-add) Similar issue with a TP-Link smart plug not working locally but only through cloud.

-When I try to ping devices using their local IP from a device it cannot connect to, there's no reply
-router log shows nothing as far as I can tell
- Running Firmware Version:382.1_2 on a Asus 3100 with all AiProtection disabled

Any thoughts? Thank you.

I'm running 380.68_4 on my 68U and I have no issue pinging between devices that are Wi-Fi based.

I went back to 380.65_4 and it seems the issue has gone away. Also I am able to get full 900Mbps download with AI protection enabled which I cannot do with the latest firmware. (stock or Merlin)

It seems from 380.66 onwards I have the issue with local devices not being able to communicate. Harmony hubs for example will connect from my phone to hub via cloud but not see each other locally. 65 and below it is fine. Any additional thoughts?

From the change log

- CHANGED: Disable bridge multicast_snooping, as this should be
unnecessary, and it could interfere with EMF, UPNP and
other multicast applications. Can be re-enabled from
the Tools -> Other Settings page.

And in 380.67

- CHANGED: Removed tweak that allowed to disable/enable bridge
multicast snooping, as Asus now disables it upstream
at the kernel level.

My guess is snooping was helping you!

That was it, brilliant! Thank you. I am assuming that Asus making this change mandatory means that my setup isn't working as intended. Any thoughts on how to resolve this so I can upgrade to newer firmware past 380.66_6?

Try playing with the other snooping/IGMP related settings on the Wireless Professional tab and IPTV tab.
I’ve disabled everything related to it to aid my woes and it seems to have helped a lot, your situation seems the other way around though so can only suggest flicking them one way and the other and seeing what happens!

I actually had to enable them in my environment, devices connected to a switch kept dropping off broadcast discovery. Since enabling on the LAN IPTV tab, all is well. I have the Wireless Professional settings enabled, but they didn't do much on their own.

Indeed Jack, everyone’s environment is different, definitely not a one fix for all with multi/broadcast it seems!

That bridge option made no logical sense, and was breaking other functionality, that's why it was removed. The fact it was enabled in the first place is a bug in itself.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try a newer build when I get a chance and play with those settings to see if I get some success.

I need to do some reading in the other thread to see if there's a way of keeping hardware acceleration/gigabit speeds with the newer AIProtection in 382 enabled. I like how in 380 I can have it enabled and still get full speed but haven't been able to in my testing of 382.

Update on this. Playing with the IGMP settings did nothing and I upgraded to 384.4_2, same issue. After that, factory reset and used the backup, same issue. Factory reset and manually reconfigured from scratch, all works again. All IGMP settings are still on the default disabled settings now. Hope this helps someone.
