Working USB 3 hubs with 376.48 (RT-AC68U)

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a USB 3.0 hub that works with the latest firmware and is recognized as a USB 3.0 hub?

I have a simple 3.0 hub which worked wonderfully on 374.X, but for some reason is recognized as a USB 2.0 on the latest firmware.

To check if yours works as USB 3.0, please run the following:
Code:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

There will be multiple entries. One will be the hub. In my case it's this one:
Code:
T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=480 MxCh= 4

The problem is the 480 there. It should be much higher, in the 5000 range.

All suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Hello goncalossilva,

I tried two hubs ("Inateck HBU3VL2-4" and "EasyAcc PUSBY32") until now but both worked only at the USB 2.0 port. At the USB 3.0 the router noticed that I have plugged in the hub but the devices at the hub weren't shown in the router menu. When I plug in a device directly at the USB 3.0 port it is shown in the menu and I can work with it.

I have tried this with the original and the Merlin firmware (version 3.0.0.4_376.47 and 3.0.0.4_376.48)

So can you please tell me which hub you are using?

Thank you very much.

P.S.: I have asked the ASUS support when the router will officially support hubs at the USB 3.0 port. They answered that they cannot say if and when it will officially supported and that they will give this request to their development department...

My current HUB is this one: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00D1129PE/

It works attached to any of the ports. My problem is that it stopped being recognized as a USB 3.0 hub and now I have USB 2.0 speeds on both ports when I use it.

Could you share the thread where you asked ASUS for this? I'd like to add my voice to the claim. I can't understand why it would be so difficult to add support for this... it's Linux, after all.

Oh I don't like ORICO products. But I will try this old firmware which worked for you. Maybe my hubs will also work with it.

I haven't asked ASUS in a discussion board but per mail so I cannot share a thread.

I don't really have an opinion on USB hub brands :) I just bought one and was lucky enough to have it working! What I really want is a working USB 3.0 Hub on the latest firmware.

Out of curiosity: What's wrong with ORICO?

I had two ORICO-products (with USB 3.0) until now and both didn't work correctly with my existing hardware. Products from other manufacturers most worked properly.

This is the first ORICO product I own and it has served me well, but from other threads it seems that what suits one setup might not suit others :)

My major problem at this point is the router not recognizing the HUB as USB 3, just USB 2, which cripples the speed. I hope this gets fixed soon.
