My XT8 came with a pre-shared key "as long as your arm" for 5GHZ-2.

Does anyone know if this a default key for all new units or unique to each XT8?

Thanks

When first booted, mine had the same PIN (printed in bottom label) for the 3 bands.

My XT8 has a "long as your arm" hidden SSID and key for the 5GHz-2 because I use this wireless network as a backhaul network. This is preset by default in my dual XT8 kit. If I change it and make a complete reset, it goes back to the preset name and key.

Thanks for the replies.

I understand the key is there by default.

Back to my original question.... is the default key the same for each XT8 or unique
to each pair?

If it's unique, I'll just leave it as is, however, if Asus is loading the same
key in all units as part of the build process, this an obvious security risk.

OK..... that's different to mine.

I'm feeling a bit more comfortable in leaving mine as is.

Many thanks for your reply.

As I have mesh off (never enabled, I don't need it), pin is the same (labeled) by default for the 3 bands. I think that it will generate a long password for band 3 if I enable mesh.
