YazFi YazFi on BE88U

New Around Here
Hello everyone,

I've recently replaced an AXE16000 (it died) with a BE88U. I used YazFi on the previous router and was wondering if I can set it up on the new one, given that the UI for setting up the network/WiFi is quite different.

Thank you very much!

You might find some more traction on this query by asking in the Merlin-Addons forum, but based on the BE98 findings, also a BE class router, you might be out of luck.

I replaced an AC68U, running YazFi, last month with a BE88U and found that I didn't need YazFi. I run a pair of PiHoles and used to use YazFi to give access to them from my old guest network but the BE88U allows access to the PiHoles from the guest network.

YazFi is not currently coded to work with 3006.102_x firmware. The YazFi developer is no longer actively maintaining YazFi. Further the entire Guest Network has been extensively changed under the 3006.x firmware and has been rebranded as Guest Network Pro. Search the forum for Guest Network Pro to find various other discussions on the issues people are having with that new feature.

Currently users are trying to use scripting to recreate some of the YazFi features by adding IPTables entries under 3006 firmware with mixed success. Some other discussions:

The BE88U's UI for the network set up is quite intuitive and I like it a lot. I run two instances of AdGuard VMs as DNS, just like the PiHole. What I miss however is being able to point IoT devices on a VLAN to the DNS sitting in my main network - something YazFi was able to do. I know I can open up the main network to the IoT devices for this but I prefer to keep them totally isolated.

As a workaround, I just used Quad9's public DNS for the IoT devices.

Your inputs are always very much appreciated! 👍👍👍
