Hi SNB Team,

I found your USG20 review from a few years back very informative, and have subsequently had good luck in deploying many of them in the field. It appears you have a leaning towards reviewing more consumer stuff these days, but I was wondering if you'd consider reviewing the new USG40/40W and USG60/60W series and see how they stack up to their predecessors and competing appliances. I know, for example, a negative point on the lower-end USGs was low WAN-LAN throughput with any reasonable amount of protection/filtering/firewalling turn on, so I'd be curious to see how the new stuff fairs in your lab. :)

Anyways, thanks for all the info you've put out there so far. Cheers!

Until Tim responds to your request... The Zyxel 110 has the same base CPU but not most of the UTM features.

The new series is a massive performance jump compared to the older lineup.

I think the USG40s model's performance is slightly higher than the old USG200 and the USG 60 being slightly superior to the older USG 300.

The next step up is the new USG 110, 210 and 310 which has performance directly in between the old models USG1000 and the USG 2000.

I see the USG 110 as becoming the new go to model for SMB.

Thanks for the info, mac. I'm assuming you meant to type the USG60 (not 50) as being slightly superior to the USG 300, right? And yeah, the 110 seems to have a great value point. It will be interesting to see how far below the supposed MSRP the 40/60 units will go, considering the street price for a 110 is roughly equal at many reputable online retailers...

Are you interested in UTM or just VPN? If primarily VPN, then the 110 is the current entry-level model.
