K, will think on this and post something back to you, on a project but have an idea. I had something almost exactly like it, may/may not help. Comcast, humph.
I have an Asus RT-AC86U and have been running it with Merlin for over a year now and agree it is a beast but I want to run OpenVPN through the router and the Asus RT-AC86U can't handle the traffic and so it brings my 200 Mbps down to 50 and it kills my set-top boxes, etc.

I am also looking for instructions on how to overclock an Asus RT-AC68 router. The VPN supplier that I am using (Private Internet Access) is causing a massive hit on transfer speeds. I would like to implement the VPN on the router but I am concerned that a low clock speed will make the problem much worse.

It seems that with the new R7800 firmware update 1.0.2.36 which contains a new SMB update, Time Machine can no longer see shared drives as usable drives for Time Machine. The shared drives are still accessible but Time Machine can't see them. Can the engineering team please look at this?
