    ASUS App Android? Secure???

Asus App works perfectly with VPN remote access. The way @bbunge is using it above.

How easy to attach Firebox T25 to TUF Gaming AX6000 ?

If you want WatchGuard appliance better attach a switch and access points to it. T25 model can run up to Gigabit network by itself, but the more you want from it the lower the speed is going to be down to 200Mbps with full features enabled. You don't need this Gaming router after WatchGuard...

Pfsense/opnsense box with AX88U Merlin firmware

Give it a try, but don't invest in hardware in advance. Run it on whatever you have available and see what it is. Based on your questions - there will be very steep learning curve. pfSense/OPNsense are entire router OS with hundreds of menus and require above average networking knowledge...

Asus Ax86 pro and AC86u 2 pack aimesh network

I would use this one only for connection to the optical network with whatever it has in firmware Passthrough, DMZ... anything. I personally first time hear about this company and the device doesn't even have User Manual online. Definitely find a way to use your RT-AX86U Pro as Router with...

DNS pointing to a Kazakstan server: anyone seen this?

I shoot straight to the root servers with Unbound as resolver, the default DNS server in pfSense.

Need Help with Home Network Setup Involving Ubiquiti Antennas and Tenda Router

You are using correctly AirMAX for the bridge, but this DFS channel may be disrupted by detected radar communications. Stick to available non-DFS channels instead. You can also try 20MHz wide channel. At this small distance you can get 100% signal quality with maximum throughput. It can do...

Asus Ax86 pro and AC86u 2 pack aimesh network

You'll lose all Asuswrt router related features in AP Mode though, stand alone or AiMesh. No AiProtection, no VPN client/server, no Traffic Analyzer, no QoS, etc. ISP gateways are usually basic configuration devices. I would keep the main Asus router in Router Mode even if it has to be in double...

DNS pointing to a Kazakstan server: anyone seen this?

You can try OpenDNS, it's pretty consistent and has user categories with free account. For best protection I would say perhaps CleanBrowsing, good record. Both support DoT, if you want DNS queries encrypted. Your ISP will be perhaps the fastest and will send you to right places. Quad9 was taking...

Nothing much. Government agency with interesting past CEO. https://www.theregister.com/2019/12/16/cira_ceo_hot_water/ They are going to protect your privacy in the best way possible.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24243 (2024/05/13)

You're good, no need to change the firmware. I haven't tried this version yet, the previous one had some quirks here and there, but overall very stable for average basic configurations most people use. Keep it simple and it will serve you well. If you have no issues - go out and enjoy the summer.

    RT-AX86S vs RT-AX86U vs RT-AX86U Pro

This is a dual-band router. I don't think it will come to the US with 2.4GHz + 6GHz bands. This is a region specific model and we may not see it at all around here.

RT-AX88U Pro with 160Mhz - very bad experience

160MHz wide channel on 5GHz band was never guaranteed. The same for 40MHz wide channel on 2.4GHz band.

Research the history of CIRA management and who's behind. You may want to switch to something else.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24243 (2024/05/13)

If you don't need complicated VPN configurations, you are not interested in Custom Scripts and have mixed routers AiMesh - stay on stock Asuswrt. Everything else is available in stock Asuswrt one way or another and it has better compatibility with Asus App. I know many people prefer the App to...

can configuration information of the same firmware version be exported/imported to each other?

One more observation, perhaps @ColinTaylor may have some input - commonly recommended (including by me) direct transfer of settings files to JFFS/NVRAM from one router to another creates more issues than save/restore or transfer of settings in SSH. I have to stop recommending files copy/paste...

can configuration information of the same firmware version be exported/imported to each other?

You in particular have no issues whatsoever. You just have to follow the changes between firmware versions (I believe you do) and clean your installation accordingly to whatever is present in both firmware versions before you transfer the settings between them. If you have scripts on top it gets...

can configuration information of the same firmware version be exported/imported to each other?

My goal was to stay as close as possible to what an average user will do reading Asus FAQ. With so many different models what changes on boot we can investigate further, but the fact is every "upgraded" router was working with the settings from the previous one just fine. I also did GUI settings...

can configuration information of the same firmware version be exported/imported to each other?

Actually, this isn't exactly correct. Save/restore does some conversions, but major changes are done by the firmware itself. If the partitions structure was changed - the firmware does it on first boot. I remember trying to kill one router going back and fort with firmware when Asus made...

can configuration information of the same firmware version be exported/imported to each other?

In this case you have to reset after every firmware upgrade. If you compare the NVRAM values before and after you'll find them identical after save/restore and after firmware upgrade with no reset. In one case you replace NVRAM contents over specific firmware base, on the other case you replace...
