Firmware Restoration not detecting Rescue Mode AX88U

antik

Occasional Visitor
I’m trying to use the Firmware Restoration tool however it says my AX88U is not in Rescue Mode when it is. I’ve factory reset (WPS + power button), then put it into Rescue Mode (reset + power button). I have the Power light slowly flashing which means it’s in Rescue Mode, however the Firmware Restoration tool says the router isn’t in Rescue Mode.

Router is connected to PC via ethernet and I’ve changed the IPv4 settings. Have also tried with WAN disconnected.

Any ideas?

can you acccess the mini cfe recovery window at the routers ip address?

btw, its not reset+power button, its reset+plug in the power.

Have also tried with WAN disconnected.

Why you have other connections to a router in Rescue Mode?

The only connection has to be your computer running Firmware Restoration tool, connected to LAN port.

Did you set a static IP on your computer yet? Go into your LAN adapter settings and use the following to set up
your TCP/IP settings:
IP address: 192.168.0.1 (or even 192.168.0.2)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Then plug computer into a LAN port on your router with a GOOD network cable. (I've had old ones loose contact before)

Try with lan port 1. Still nothing? Try next lan port.

This is how you do it with a Windows computer anyway, not sure about a mac computer. I've read somewhere it's only compatible with windows. This setup worked with my AX11000.

1. Unplug the wireless router from the power source.
2. Hold the Reset button at the rear panel and simultaneously
replug the wireless router into the power source. Release the
Reset button when the Power LED at the front panel flashes
slowly, which indicates that the wireless router is in the rescue
mode.

Not sure if same applies to your router.

Hope this helps.

I recently did this with an RT-AX3000 connected via Ethernet directly to a laptop with WiFi disabled on purpose. Followed ASUS instructions to a T.

The only glitch was a dumb rookie error on my part trying to reset it with the WPS button that sits proud of the plastic; when I pressed the reset button (which is recessed) it worked perfectly.
