    AX88U Firmware on AX56U?

    Neither supported nor legal.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 Beta and 384.13_3 are now available

Beta and AMTM is working flawlessly here so far. In the interest of testing, I did a dirty flash by: the mesh node first (and a reboot), then the router after removing the SSD (reboot). Plugged in the SSD, all the scripts came back and AMTM had no issues. Then, I did a factory reset/format...

    Merlin + AiMesh advice

Lots of variables to cover without enough info from what your setup needs to be. To start, the AX92U is not and may never be merlin supported. So, unless you have a burning desire or a specific need for WiFi 6 (AX), I'd just buy a couple of cheaper, legacy Asus routers (like AC68U's) or the...

As are we, sir. As are we. Thanks for what you do.

[384.15_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

Dirty flash, I upgraded scripts (and AMTM) via ssh, then, removed SSD, flashed the 88U mesh node, rebooted it, flashed the 86U, rebooted it after it came up. Re-added the mesh node via the webui, and then reattached the SSD. NO issues. AMTM 3.1.0 FW is what shows up and no issues with any of...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

It's not resolvable. That feature is in the .15 alpha fw, not in the fw you are using.

[384.15_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

Updated to A1 this morning by: removing (correctly) the USB, installing the (Jan 14th) alpha package on the 86U, waiting for it to settle, installing (Jan 14th) alpha on the 88U, rebooting both, re-installing the USB drive. Working as advertised. ONE very minor issue that may need to be looked...

Secure method to share video files (sftp or AiCloud) with non-tech friends

Look into Firefox Send. I've used it for similar items and the only issue I've encountered is download fails for one family member that has SLOOOOW internet.

    RT-AX88U & RT-AC68U, AiMesh Configuring........

I've seen Merlin say that mesh nodes on stock FW is just fine. Personally, I run my mesh node on Merlin and I don't have any issues updating it via the WebUI after downloading the .zip from thee update site. I would say, whatever practice keeps your routers up to date is what's best.

    ASUS Lyra Node

Are you planning to use the Lyra as a mesh node? If so, you don't need to run Merlin on them. Run them on stock Asus FW and use your Merlin powered AC88U as the router, running any scripts in addition to what Merlin brings. Edit: I remembered him saying that he was running Lyra's on his own...

    WIFi 6E

Oops, yep. But, what's 5.9 billion cycles between friends? ;)

    WIFi 6E

Yep, seeing similar reports today: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/01/tired-of-hearing-about-wi-fi-6-great-lets-talk-about-wi-fi-6e/ Looks like they want to add the 6Mhz spectrum for mesh backhauls, which makes sense in many applications.

Unbound - Authoritative Recursive Caching DNS Server

With the answers to my questions, I think that I agree. Thanks for the input.

    AiMesh question / advice.

When it comes to logs, I tend to agree with cmkelly. Read the first post here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/scribe-syslog-ng-and-logrotate-installer.55853/

Unbound - Authoritative Recursive Caching DNS Server

I have a quick question that has been talked about but that I don't see a specific answer to: If I do not have stubby installed (as a script) but am using DoT in Merlin, should I integrate stubby in the setup? Also, while I'm asking, since I'm using diversion, should I use/install ad/tracker...

    AiMesh question / advice.

It's not "starting" anything. I'm fairly certain it's just loading up the file set so that users can start it from the webui. Without what you are seeing in the log, it wouldn't be there at all.
  19. Stevens243

    AiMesh question / advice.

Samba is just part of the firmware. You are seeing it "enable" so that users can go activate it in the webui. The end is the log showing that you don't have any groups set up/turned on/enabled.
