High RAM on ASUS RT-AC88U Router?

Hi, Ive noticed the RAM usage on my Asus AC88U router is very high, sometimes up to 90%+ as shown in the attached screenshot: What could be causing this? I do have a fair number of devices on my home network; 5 computers, 1 laptop, 5 mobile phones, 2 smart televisions and 1 Alexa as well...

    Help with Port Forwarding!

Ok then. Shame theres not some way to test it actually works or determine whether my ISP is blocking ports. Would you guys possibly have any other ideas what the issue might be? I think it all relates to packet loss as thats what I get kicked from the server for. Pinging the server shows 0% loss...

    Help with Port Forwarding!

If I set them to open in both the inbound and outbound directions then it rules out everything. Yeh but as shown in the other screenshot from the port tester they are still shown as closed even with the game running! If you say that the tester measures inbound and the port forwarding sets up...

    Help with Port Forwarding!

Sorry but I dont get in what sense they are "wrong" as you keep insisting since they refer to opening OR forwarding those ports. They may not be applicable to ASUS routers or it may not be advisable but they are not wrong per say from what I can make out. You yourself even mention about...

    Help with Port Forwarding!

Thanks for the replies, however I am a bit confused since the article from EA says "opening OR forwarding". Traffic to the game server comes inbound and outbound. Fair enough regarding ports 80 or 443, but if I try testing ANY of the ports mentioned they are all shown as closed. Even when the...

    Help with Port Forwarding!

Ok can you help me forward the ports then please. As shown by the testing website port 80 (and others) are closed despite following the instructions.

    Help with Port Forwarding!

They are printed in the manual too. Anyway regardless, can someone please help in getting these ports open. If they are temporarily open and Im still lagging then I can at least rule it out. Thanks.

    Help with Port Forwarding!

Thanks for the reply and appreciate the concern. Those instructions were taken directly from EAs official website: Source: http://help.ea.com/uk/article/online-ports-for-battlefield-3/ Might not be a good idea for the long term, but at least if they were definitely open then I could test and...

    Help with Port Forwarding!

Im experiencing a lot of lag while gaming online (Battlefield) and the game forums recommend opening ports on your router so it can connect properly. So I firstly assigned a fixed IP address: Then I followed the instructions for port forwarding and entered the various suggested values. I...

    Disconnection Issues Since Updating Firmware

Ok I tried resetting everything back to factory settings, then reapplied the settings manually. Still disconnected tonight unfortunately. So I downloaded WinScp as suggested and put the wan_check.sh file into the /jffs (and /jffs/scripts) folder. Then loaded up PuTTY and typed in the 'chmod...

    Disconnection Issues Since Updating Firmware

Yeh it tells you how if you know what any of it means! Thanks for the reply, but how do I even save the script to /jffs I cant find the folder?

    Disconnection Issues Since Updating Firmware

Thanks for the reply. Im surprised to hear this firmware gives such problems, I thought it was supposed to be an improvement on the official one! Ok so I copy and paste the script in that thread you mentioned into notepad and save it as "wan_check.sh" on my USB stick connected to the router...

    Disconnection Issues Since Updating Firmware

Ever since updating my firmware to Asuswrt-Merlin a few days ago Ive been having disconnection issues. It might just be coincidence, but strangely it seems to occur around midnight and only once! Although this is typically when I am also doing the most downloading/streaming. The disconnection...

Installing Java onto a ASUS RT-AC88U Router?

There is indeed, thanks. But JDownloader is better for what I need. I'll give it a try - I think the maker of the app was curious too - if the usage is too high then I won't use it anymore. I'll post my findings... :)

Installing Java onto a ASUS RT-AC88U Router?

Ok thanks. I cant actually try now but will do soon... :) Ah right. It does have a dual core processor and 512MB of RAM! Currently it only gets to a maximum of 15% CPU usage with several devices connected and streaming/downloading. My idea was to install an app called 'JDownloader' (basically...

Installing Java onto a ASUS RT-AC88U Router?

Ah ok, thanks for the reply. So which file would I need from the following page: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html ? If any of those are compatible.

Installing Java onto a ASUS RT-AC88U Router?

Hi, Im trying to install Java onto my ASUS RT-AC88U router. Running the latest Asuswrt-Merlin firmware. The CPU is a Broadcom Processor based on ARM architecture. So I have tried downloading the "Linux ARM 64 Hard Float ABI" file from Oracle website but have had no luck installing...

    AB-Solution 1.0 release

Its pretty reasonable to assume an ad blocker would block ads on one of the most popular websites on the internet! If this isnt the case perhaps it should be made clear on the main page. I dont want to sound unappreciative, its still nice to have but dont think it can replace other blockers yet...
