I was using Untangle or ESR9850, not both together. I am using Untangle in router mode, not in firewall/transparent mode. I will say that I've never heard of issues port forwarding with it, though your reply may be that I am the only case you've heard of with port forwarding issues with the...

What issues does he report with Untangle? I've been using it for maybe 1.5 years now and I think it's great. Only downside is that it draws more power than a consumer router. The server I had running it had a hardware failure but I decided to use an old Centrino laptop instead. I can't really...

    WNDR 3500L DD-WRT Review

Marketing for the "L" routers to draw people who would have gone to a different brand. I don't know. I just can't imagine them being too concerned about this as long as it doesn't hurt sales. But maybe it will start hurting sales after your review and maybe they will see that and get concerned...

    WNDR 3500L DD-WRT Review

I don't think I'd agree with them "wanting" you to run alternate firmware with this box. Rather, I think they just figured they'd make a version that should get sales from the people who want to. "Let them run whatever they want as long as we can find a way to get them to buy our product," or...

    WNDR 3500L DD-WRT Review

Well, I assume Tim isn't going to want to get into testing everyone's favorite firmwares since that would end up being a lot of work for him. I do like Tomato and I used to run it over DD-WRT on my WRT54g v4. I also like OpenWRT (with X-WRT for a web UI). I didn't realize that DD-WRT had such...

I'm not running Untangle on the 9850 hardware. I'm running it on an old Centrino laptop. It's that, which works, or an old 11b Linksys router which works (though is slow and disconnects me a lot), or the 9850 which does not work for me. ("Working" being doing the routing stuff and working with...

Yeah, I tried it. No helpy. Very easy to get working in Untangle and every other router I've ever had. (multiple Linksys models with several different third party firmwares, a Gateworks setup, etc.)

I set up Untangle again on an old laptop and forwarded the port in that and it's working great. I sent Engenius an email but they have not responded. I think I'm going to have to return the 9850, though, if I can't figure it out on that. If I can figure this issue out then I will likely keep it...

I've always liked DD-WRT and OpenWRT but the Netgear + DD-WRT review makes me doubt DD-WRT. Hopefully it's just not that stellar on that particular router.

I upgraded firmware and still can't get it to work. I tried it both by resetting to factory defaults after the upgrade, using the new internal IP it gave me (since my static DHCP wasn't set up in a factory defaults - and yes, I released and renewed the client) and also by restoring my settings...

Port mapping is turned off. IP filter is allowing all ports to those machines, but I have tried with it off. And you have it backwards - I am using different public ports to the same local port on different machines. 3389 router to 3389 local machine #1, 3390 router to 3389 local machine #2.

it's AP only, not a router. it's the 637 though.

This worked on my old Linksys 11b router, on my Untangle box (for which the motherboard died), and every other piece of equipment. I am using the MSRDP client. Port 3389 is the default. I have always forwarded 3389 and used it perfectly. I have tried it at work and from my phone and I had my...

Yes, I have my own domain and I use ZoneEdit for a nameserver. I did update ZoneEdit and I gave it plenty of time to propogate and it does resolve properly to the new IP that I got when I changed to this router. It does match what the router says in its setup and also what I get from...

I don't get what you mean... the router has no say in what systems inside my network can do with other systems inside of my network... I am forwarding RDP so I can access my main system from outside of my network. 1 RDP 192.168.0.10 3389 TCP 3389 Should I definitely upgrade to 1.10...

I don't mean to sound annoying but why use 1.10 when many people have been using 1.09 to avoid other (wireless?) issues? What is the point of port mapping if I'm supposed to use port forwarding? And what's wrong about doing RDP - how would you do it?

Hi guys, I can't figure out how to get port forwarding working on this. I've never been unable to get it working for any other router that had the option to do it. I want it for RDP port 3389 TCP. The internal IP is set with static DHCP and it is correctly listening as verified with netstat (and...
