Question: How do I properly set up my RT-AC3100 router as a dedicated vpn router behind my primary router to share VPN with all devices on my primary router? Find a Plug Power Extension Cable for RT-AC5300

What do you mean by mains extension? Also to the other two posters thank you for your suggestions but I'm not real big on cutting into my stock power cables. Just hoping to find out the size of the male end of the plug that goes into the router to see if I can find an adapter maybe if I can't...

Anyone know of plug power extension cables for the RT-AC5300 or like models? I don't know the size of the male end that plugs into the router. I tried this product from Amazon but it didn't fit plugging into the router. The female end was just fine...

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.68 is available

Update: 8/20/17 10:50 PM EST: This no longer is an issue. It suddenly started appearing properly. Upgraded all 3 of my routers. Did the shift-reload and tested against Chrome, IE11, and Firefox same result. System status has a weird inner frame scroll box. My resolution is 1080p on a 24" monitor.

How to setup an isolated VLAN on Merlin?

I believe the OP is saying they already have the guest network on the main router and it is set to be isolated from intranet and they have a second AP that can do a VLAN SSID but they want it to be the same vlan that is created from the guest network on the Asus router that is already isolated...

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

@Martineau I simplified the server settings (see below AsusWRT Router settings). So now I am using the gui box for Allowed clients to push and route. And then only using your script for the iroute based on commonname of the login (which was brilliant by the way!). So now I tested as was able...

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

You mentioned it might be possible with event script like the one you did for clientconnect. Would you help me come up for one that would update each clients hosts file dynamically when they connect to the server?

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

Ok I figured it partially out. From the clients to the server it works with the FQDN. But not from clients to clients and not from server to clients. Not sure what else to do. Client configuration: Accept DNS Configuration: Strict In custom configuration box float keepalive 15 60...

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

Further testing I did try strict on the client side but it still didn't insert into the \tmp\resolv.conf file. Is there something I'm missing?

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

@Martineau I understand the line now to be pasted as is in the server custom code gui box. I wasn't able to get it to resolve though still. After stopping/restarting both the Open VPN server on the router and stopping the clients on the their routers. Does it only work on strict? I would...

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

@Martineau I must have totally missed this post when you replied. I just found this! Wow a little embarrassing haha. Anyhow thank you so much always for your expertise. Just one small question, your code when it says DOMAIN are you saying use that phrase exactly or replace it with my server or...

[Resolved] Asus Router Failing To Pick Up IP from DSL Modem

This resolved itself. Overnight it started working. Something to probably to do with the ISP releasing the prior MAC and finally registering the new device.

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

I don't have a Windows client. This is an OpenVPN site to site setup only on Asus Routers. The clients are Asus Routers not PC's on the local subnet. Doesn't matter if I run an elevated CMD to ping or not. Still doesn't resolve. Also the target PC firewall isn't blocking it as I can ping it all...

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

Thanks Merlin. Push LAN to clients is enabled. What do you mean about running client with elevated privileges? Server= Asus AC68U at my Dad's house - local subnet 192.168.2.0/24 - VPN subnet 10.2.0.0/24 set to TUN and Push to Lan and Respond to DNS/Advertise DNS set to Yes and Client to Client...

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

@RMerlin thanks for the latest update 380.66! Just following up as I still haven't been able to figured this one out. Any thoughts on what I need to do? I did as you suggested and set the OpenVPN server to Respond to DNS and Advertise DNS. Is there anything I need to do on the OpenVPN client...

[Resolved] Asus Router Failing To Pick Up IP from DSL Modem

We did plugging a PC directly into the modem and it picked up a local IP 192.168.0.x from modem DHCP even though its in bridge mode. However we didn't get an internet connection. Didn't try PPPOE from it though. Ill check that out. Thanks for the tip.

    Resolve Hostnames over OpenVPN

Hey @Martineau any ideas on this? Your script is still working like a charm but I am seeing the issues where I can't ping the remote subnet. I can RDP/network shares using the remote subnet IP (serverside/client sides) but ping replies no host found. Same for Nslookup.

Asus RT AC68U OpenVPN Server and Client

@Martineau has a great script to provide that works like a charm. It makes it so you can see both subnets from either server side or client side. See starting here the thread that can help you...
