Background: I am helping out a friend set up their router. We cannot get the Asus Router to pick up an IP and authenticate as the PPOA for their DSL
Devices:
Router -Asus AC3100 ver380.66
Modem - Actiontec 2200H
ISP - TDS
Actions taken: Set the modem into transparent bridge mode and disabled wireless. Modem is a gateway all in one device. Needs to be in bridge mode to simply act as a modem only and the Asus Router should be the gateway and pick up the public IP. However after doing that the Asus still won't detect. The modem was auto DHCP and not PPOE there is no login required.
However running the connect wizard and setting it in the WAN page neither way detects. It says ISP DHCP is not set up correctly or something along those lines.
Tried Power cycled both devices. Tried the order of powering both off, bringing the modem up completely first and then the router. Also tried vice versa but no luck. Read about DHCP mode to change to Normal from Aggressive but still no dice. TDS says its DHCP and just putting into bridge mode should work. They don't authenticate against MAC they also said so nothing needs to be registered there.
We also tried PPOE for kicks and it also didn't work said invalid use and password though we know for sure it's the main account login and it works on TDS site.
Any ideas? Anyone have experience with Actiontec gateway and getting the bridge mode to work to use the Asus router?
