    Cooling Asus Routers

The only worthy reason to take the router apart is for checking if HS is properly seated. Messing with thermal compund is a waste of time.

Issue with my RT-AC87R ( Gaming Related )

I know the difference. [emoji26] I must have explained wrong due to my weak english. Furthermore I got confused regarding WebUI for opening ports with forwardig them for incoming connections. Anyway thanks for your clear explanation.

    Entware/Transmission lost on firmware upgrade

Lates Merlin's firmware wipes JFFS partition. I had to backup/restore config/script files when upgraded. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Issue with my RT-AC87R ( Gaming Related )

Then ¿why consoles complain about moderate or strict NAT w/o opening ports? (uPNP disabled). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Issue with my RT-AC87R ( Gaming Related )

Maybe it's a NAT issue. Try enabling uPnP in both the router and PS4. I you don't want to enable uPnP then open the following ports in the router (WAN -> Virtual Server): TCP: 80, 443, 1935, 3478, 3479, 3480 UDP: 3074, 3478, 3479 Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Command line to check 87U CPU Temp...

It all depends on ambient temperature. Yesterday was a hot day here and my AC68U cpu (clocked to 1200) reached 86ºC with a room temp of 29ºC. Usual temps these last days have been around 77ºC. Anyway, make a search then you'll find several threads about this topic. Sent from my Nexus 5 using...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

Just wake up and now is working ok (58 MB/s) without touching anything. ;) I'll continue testing the firmware. Traffic Analyzer now runs fine and fast. Traffic values are still messed up, but that's Asus bussines.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

Just flashed my RT-AC68U. Everything ok but now upload speed from PC to router's usb hdd via FTP is too slow (12 MB/s). Download with FTP is ok (60 MB/s), upload & download with Samba is also ok. PC is connected to router at 1 Gbps through cat6 cable. QoS is disabled and 'reducing USB 3.0...

Help Me Understand Traffic Analyzer RT-68u

Look at daily/weekly/monthly traffic: 86.68 x 2 = 173.37 + 86.68 = 260.05 As you can see it's adding itself value every time you change the filter. It's broken and TA is still experimental. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    RT-AC68U temperatures

Those are awesome temps for such a small fan, moreover if it's blowing directly on the radio chips instead of SoC as it seems. Regarding thermal paste, I remember reading somewhere a test with AC68U where the guy was replacing thermal pads for MX-4 thermal paste. Results for cpu were poor: -2...

    RT-AC 68P overclock

I've already seen what you're describing. It should stop itself passed some minutes. I guess the router is triggering auto filesystem check when you plug the HDD, moreover if you have previously switched off the router or pluged off the hard drive without umounting. Regarding to OC, risk of cpu...

Reaching the ASUS RT-AC68U WAN IP from LAN

It's an issue with NAT Loopback as Deepcuts has said. If your router is already on latest stock firmware you should give a try to Merlin's firmware if you want to fix that. You can enable NAT Loopback from Firewall - General page and even select two profiles: Merlin's or Asus' one.

using a cable router with a dsl router

You have to config your DSL router as BRIDGE so it only acts as modem (i'm sure there are many guides for your model). Connect N16's WAN port to Huawei's ethernet port then configure WAN settings on N16 depending on your internet connection (PPoE or Static IP). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

How to reset nvram on asus rt87u ? please help

OK, that's the attitude I like, I mean: If it ain't broke then it needs more tweaking :D It's very simple: 1. First of all you need to enable Telnet login from Web UI: 2. Open a command prompt (I must assume you already know how to do it, otherwise you'll find billions of thousaunds of...

    AC87U 5G Overheat?

Those temps are inside the usual limits for RT-AC87U. I doubt they have anything to do. ¿Does it happen always/frequently or just happened one time?

How to reset nvram on asus rt87u ? please help

I wouldn't like to contribute to brick your router. You'd better stick to the Web UI or WPS/reset buttons methods. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    RT-AC87U-50days up time

OC without overvoltage actually doesn't have such a great impact on cpu temps, moreover on idle state. Anyway, 70C is a very sweet spot for 87U cpu. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
