Smart plugs going offline - DHCP Discover / Offer loop

Try Asus recommendations. They work great for me. https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1042475/ If no go, try a different brand.

    Starting to despair

Start a continuous ping. Then put a glass of water in the microwave and turn on the microwave. If you are dropping packets, clean the microwave seals. Then repeat the test. If still dropping packets, replace the microwave for your safety.

Host wired to node temporarily inaccessible when roaming on AiMesh

Try pinging the wired box from the router. The iPhone may have issues till it completes it's roam.

Host wired to node temporarily inaccessible when roaming on AiMesh

I'd be surprised if it's the roam that is causing the issue. Take a carful look at the quality of your backhaul wireless network. Have you dedicated it to backhaul? Are nearby network sharing the same channel? What happens if you load the backhaul and then ping across it? If you are using...

    Starting to despair

All, there is a clastic problem with WiFi auto channel where one AP changes channel as it detects congestion on the channel it is using. It changes to a channel that seems clear yet when it changes other APs that are using this channel now detect the channel as congested and change channels...

Host wired to node temporarily inaccessible when roaming on AiMesh

How is a wired device moving around? It's is wired, then replace the cable.

    Starting to despair

I had some odd behavior for devices on my 2.4-Ghz band. Then I found this: How to improve compatibility of IoT devices with WiFi 6 (AX) Router https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1042475/ All 2.4-Ghz devices have been happy ever after.

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

While you are experiencing issues, others may not. There are a huge number of variables for WiFi networks. The good news is that Asus is taking your report seriously.

Any Downside To Enabling Multi-User MIMO and OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO?

I lead a group that built one of the first campus wireless networks in 2000 and we won an Intel award for the network implementation. Apple devices did not work properly on WiFi back then and it's sad to learn that they still don't. It is the client's job to chose what AP to connect to and...

Any Downside To Enabling Multi-User MIMO and OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO?

It depends on your applications and design goals. In most cases, I'd think 2.4-GHz client need coverage and 5-Ghz might need speed and of cause you don't want holes. With your 5-GHz application's speed needs in mind, design for appropriate coverage to provide the necessary speed. Overlap in...

    ZenWiFi XD5 - Firmware

Asus recommends that the most sophisticated router be the AI Mesh router. This is because the AI Mesh router's settings are propagated to the nodes. The WiFi 6 settings don't exist on the RT-AC86U. I suspect your XD5 will use defaults for them and that might be OK. You will find out. Morris

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

Are any other devices connected to your network while running the pings?

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

Suggestions: - Do not use 160 wide channels: helps avoid cross channel interference and DFS issues - Use fixed channels, not automatic: The router dose not need to periodically change channels while lessening for other networks and interference - Use a WiFi scanner and look for empty channels...

Any Downside To Enabling Multi-User MIMO and OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO?

Best WiFi design with minimal overlap has circles around the APs that overlap just enough to leave no holes, they circle comes nonplace near the adjacent AP. This is accomplished by Propper AP placement and power levels. This is WiFi design 101

Restart all wireless devices, including the ones on AiMesh-nodes?!

I think you want to do an optimization. That will cause all clients to reconnect. There is also restart if you want to be more aggressive and restart the router and all nodes.
