    AdBlocking with combined hosts file

This works GREAT.... But one thing I don't see discussed in this thread is IPV6. I'm still seeing quite a few successful resolutions to ad servers using IPV6 addresses. Any easy way to fix this? Would there be a quick SED or AWK line that can be added to the pipe, that would read each...

    Monitoring Web Usage with Asuswrt-Merlin

The execution path ($PATH) doesn't include the /jffs/scripts/ folder. If you have /jffs/scripts/ as the current folder, try typing ./showwebmon.sh as that should work. The error you got when using "sh showwebmon.sh" looks like a syntax error in the script itself; perhaps an extra line feed...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.51 is out

Working great here on N66U, love the new wireless log display. But why does the RX column always report "??" for Rx rate on all my 2.4GHz devices?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Wireless Log in AP mode? Prior to 378.50, my N66U router's "Wireless Log" was frequently missing the IP address for some devices. Thankfully, with 378.50, the log appears complete! (Note: Another donation has been sent -- with my thanks to Eric.) I am assuming this item from the change...

Upgraded to 376.49_4, now all DHCP gives 192.168.0.x

Default gateway blank is normal (if left blank, the router's address is used). I have no other ideas, sorry. Sounds like a problem with nvram for which I would suggest resetting to factory defaults -- but you have already done that. Hopefully someone else will pop in with an idea.

What's specified for your subnet mask under Lan, Lan IP?

Testing - received packet on vlan1 with own address as source address

I get a similar message -- not sure if it is the same condition you are trying to test. Pretty sure I can "force" one of these to occur by simply walking to the other end of the house, thus "roaming" from the router to the AP. Both router and AP are N66U, both running RMerl 376.48_3. Dec...

    Reboot RT-N66U=No Internet

DHCP Query Frequency Since you are using Charter, be sure the "DHCP query frequency" on the WAN page is set to "Normal" and NOT "Aggressive." Having it set to "Aggressive" could definitely cause the exact problem you describe. If your firmware version doesn't have the "Normal" and...

    AP for RT-N66U?

I know fails the "inexpensive" test... But another N66U is what I decided to use in the same situation. A good AP, same firmware as router, and I have a "backup" in case my router ever fails.

FYI for anyone using HDHomerun Prime with RT-N66U and Merlin

There isn't anything intrinsically wrong with 376.44/45, since it works fine for others, so it must be something different in your environment or settings. Could be a needle in a haystack. In my case, I have upnp disabled on the N66U. And I'm streaming to Windows Media center, not a TV...

FYI for anyone using HDHomerun Prime with RT-N66U and Merlin

No problems here with either 376.44 or 376.45. Watching video from HDHomeRun right now, and it is streaming perfectly. HDHomeRun model HDHR-US, firmware 20130117. Did you reset the N66U to factory defaults after loading 376.45? And then reboot devices on the network, including the HDHomeRun?

Exporting Wireless MAC filter list and Manually assigned IP list

Save/Restore scripts You might look at the following thread too, as it contains an expanded version of the approach used in the thread referred by ColinTaylor, above. http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?p=100529

    Microwave fallout

I suspect it may not be the same for every microwave, but this testing (from a CNET article) shows channels 1 and 10 to be the least affected. Full article here: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/ou/why-2-4-ghz-is-a-dead-end-for-wi-fi/578 Channel 1 or 10 (and 20MHz channel width) might be the...

    Howto change LAN MAC adress

This most often is reported by folks running a bridge or access point, and seems to happen when devices "switch" between them. For example, I see it every time one of our mobile devices (phones and laptops) "switch" between the N66U Router at the North end of our house and the N66U "AP" at the...

    How to change IP address

You are correct, he did not say why he is being blocked so we don't know. He said his IP is being blocked, that he wanted to change his IP, and that he did NOT want to use a proxy. So it makes sense to simply change the IP and see if that corrects the issue. If he changes to a different...

    How to change IP address

You need to change your WAN IP. Most ISP's assign addresses using DHCP, and the IP lease is associated with the MAC presented to the ISP by your Router. (If your ISP uses static assignment, then the only way to change your IP is to contact the ISP). Assuming your ISP uses DHCP, and assuming...

    Received packet with own address

Very possible the SSID identification has something to do with it. I do use the same SSID's on the Router and the AP (one SSID for 2.4GHz, another for 5GHz).

    Received packet with own address

Seems harmless I get these messages frequently, and they seem to occur when mobile devices "roam" (switch) between the router at North end of house and the AP at the South end of the house. I've posted about it a couple of times, but all I have are "theories" (guesses) about what causes it...

ASUS Wireless Router RT-N66U drops connection 2-3 times an hour

Not sure which firmware version you are using, so this may not apply. Look in the wireless settings for "Enhanced Interference Management" (EIM), and if your firmware has that setting, try disabling it. I had the exact problem you describe (2.4GHz wireless dropping every few minutes) when I...
