    WiFi not working with 2.4 GHz or 5. GHz

    As a troubleshooting step, if you haven't done so already, change the WiFi passwords to use only numbers and letters. Avoid using spaces, special characters, foreign special characters and the like when troubleshooting password problems.

    What is your reluctance to dumping AiCloud, which has had multiple security vulnerabilities over the years, and using VPN? Is it, as you said, just being "lazy"? Or is there some other more specific reason?

    Sounds like this is a perfect time to go the VPN route as RMerlin suggested above. Plenty of "how-to" guides available on the internet for setting up VPN on Asus routers. What ever you do, keep the AiCloud features and WAN GUI/SSH access disabled for now.

    Considering the EOL RT-AC68U just got a firmware update to address the recent security vulnerability, I'd venture to guess the RT-AX86U will get one as well in the coming days. The RT-AX86U last firmware update was just six months ago (2024/05/13 - 3.0.0.4.388_24243).
