    I have used pivpn (wireguard) on rp4, works like a charm! Personally I leave my router (r7800) do the router stuff and use RP for the rest (pihole dns incl dhcp, hassio, wireguard VPN etc.)

    Voxel [RBR50] Any way to use 149 for 5 GHz?

    Isn't it as simple as selecting US as country to unlock the higher channels? Worked for me on my R7800

    R7800 Still a good router?

    Fully agree with this! If you use the R7800 as router it is very fast and rock stable. I use a simple raspberry pi zero w as pi-hole dns and dhcp server. Rp3 for hassio and wireguard. Works like a charm.

    Hi, it is just guessing but the first things i would try is moving the extender closer to the R7800 or changing the channel.

    I know what i'm going to do this evening! One question, more in general, i noticed the ping to my R7800 is ~2ms via 5ghz. I remember that previously this was always <1ms, does anyone have the same experience? Thanks again Voxel!

    I can confirm everything said by @KW. for the R7800. I also worked with ddwrt, switched to Voxel and never looked back.

    Extending network?

    I'm using an ex7700 extender with my r7800, didn't have the possibility to run a cable through my house. Running stable and no noticeable latency issues.

    Who's running adblocking on there router?

    Maybe a completely different approach, but i'm using a Raspberry PI with Pi-hole as DHCP server and adblocker. In Pi-hole i'm using #1 blocklist by sjhgvr, which is a very complete adblocking list. Also my VPN server is running on the same RPI, which means also adblocking when i'm not home...
