ac66u infected with LuaBot - help please

Are your LuaBot files identical (same md5 hashes) to the files you quote in your first post? If not, can you share them?

Need advise on replacing my modem

Are you actually getting 10Mbit? Can you view your modem's line stats?

    Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X SFP

What features do you need/want in your router? The router that ISPs provide is good enough for most people and many gigabit ISPs provide respectable hardware.

    Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X SFP

That's strange. A router should forward the SSL packets just like any other IP-based protocol. A (non-DPI) router has no knowledge of the upper layer protocols (5-7). HTTP, FTP, SMTP, TLS/SSL, etc are all just another IP packet from a router's perspective. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_model...

Block access to Netflix IPv6 thru HE tunnel

Unless there is some problem with your ISP, connecting directly (no VPNs, proxies, etc) will always be faster and quicker.

    Strange behaviour of access point

I think sfx2000 was referring to resetting/clearing the WiFi settings on the Android device.

Block access to Netflix IPv6 thru HE tunnel

Perhaps you could configure dnsmasq's DNS forwarder to only return IPv4 addresses for Netflix domains.

    Yes. Absolutely.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

(generic Broadcom ADSL2+ modem) pfSense = router RT-N66U = AP but thanks for caring. :) Eventually I hope to switch to the the EdgeRouter-X as my router, presumably enforcing that I'm not a fanboy of open-source/FreeBSD, but that time has not yet come. I hope I am no fanboi... :/

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

The question is hard to answer, like the age old question: Ford or Chevy? The question of which to choose, merlin or this fork, is made even more complex considering that both are stable and actively maintained by top-notch fellows. :) It depends on too many factors. The best answer, which most...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

With my RT-N66U, the primary reason I use the fork over merlin's is mentioned in the first post, and many others use it for the same reason.

LAN sluggish to nothing only with router

Unless you are using PPPoE, your MTU should be 1500 (which corresponds to 1472 when testing MTU with pings because of the 28 bytes of IP & ICMP overhead, IIRC). Rather than guessing about why you are having poor performance, I would run a packet sniffer like tcpdump on your router then look at...

    ER-X: small is beautiful

I do not like that at all... :( A prosumer OS like EdgeOS should not be doing short-cuts like that. If I type in "100Mbit", that's exactly what I expect to be passed to HFSC, HTB, CoDel, etc. Anyway... https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-aqm-fq-codel-06#section-5.2.4 I would leave it...

    ER-X: small is beautiful

You likely need to lower the configured 100Mbit bitrate since it should be set to your real-world lowest maximum bitrate. For functional QoS, the device must be the bitrate bottleneck. You may consider completely disabling download QoS, especially if your interests are primarily with improving...

    Flashing ASUS RT-N66U

Also, when flashing the RT-N66U via Rescue Mode be prepared to wait ~45 minutes or more for it to complete. The RT-N66U is known to be slow when flashing in this mode.

    AP mode with DDNS

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-update-for-374-43-available-v19e3.18914/ Though, I would expect merlin's to be no different. Are you sure merlin's latest firmware does not have the option to enable SSH in AP-mode? You should at least be able to manually surf to the web-page that has the...

    AP mode with DDNS

Are you sure? I can access my AP-mode RT-N66U via SSH. You very likely need to manually assign a LAN IP to the AP, if you did not. I am using john's fork though, so my experience may differ from yours. The GUI option to enable SSH is available in both router & AP-mode.
