How to access files from Android or iOS device?

You may need a media player like MX Player or VLC. With both iOS & Android I have been able to stream videos via HTTP. You might need to change the "Open With ..." to these players. Worst-case scenerio: just copy the video's URL and paste it into your media player.

How to access files from Android or iOS device?

SMB or NFS. I know there are Android apps that can act as clients for all of those. You could even setup an HTTP server and simply web-browse to it. You could install Plex on the router but it has limitations (no transcoding because of the underpowered CPU). You could alternatively install Plex...

    Extreme Router Trouble

Are you using the same DNS servers with each of the routers? Depending on which DNS you use, you may get different CDN servers. Generally ISP-supplied DNS servers are best for getting closer/faster CDNs but this isn't always true. Try Google & your ISP DNS servers and see which works better...

    Enough CPU capacity for VPN

There aren't really any consumer-grade routers with CPUs fast enough for gigabit speeds. The most inexpensive option I know of is using a desktop/server PC as your router (pfSense or similar). A CPU with AES-NI offloading is optimal.

    Another Speed Testing Site

Being unreliable has little to do with throughput though, right? I mean, if we are measuring IP bitrates, whether it's TCP or UDP is moot. Perhaps if we are measuring "goodput", the protocol overheads become important, but is that what we are trying to measure? I guess it depends on the...

    NAS or NOT

Plex can be ran on whatever PC you want. If you run it on a device separate from your NAS, you would need to remotely mount your NAS-stored media with SMB or NFS (or iSCSI, etc) on the local Plex device. Just wondering... is your internet connection fast enough for streaming to external...

    "Enable Firewall"

NAT can protect your internal networks from external connections but it won't protect your router's ports, AFAIK. I dunno exactly what "Enable Firewall" does but I'd leave it enabled.

    Anti-probing protection

You could put your IOT devices on a separate VLAN/LAN and isolate the network.

Potential LAN transfer speed for N66U

I just ran some iperf3 tests and got 151mbit average over 20 seconds, from my Nexus 9 (2x2 AC?) to a wired LAN PC, connection through my N66U. If your client was 3x3, that'd be optimal.

RT-AC3100 with latest firmware. Nothing but bugs!! No support at all!

Apologies if I missed that you've already tried this, but have you tried Resetting to Factory Defaults? IMO, it's the most important step to try when problems are encountered.

High power wireless router - DHCP trouble

Sadly, the user you replied to hasn't been active for 7+ years. ;) What sort of problems are you having with getting the APs to work with the UVerse router? Try hard to avoid double-NAT.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I hope this post further reinforces that John is happy to help, given that a poster is willing to work together with us/him.

Adaptive Qos, Cake-FQ-codel/FQ-codel, and traffic classification.

I think it's primarily a limitation caused by the dated kernel requirements of Broadcom's SDK.

Adaptive Qos, Cake-FQ-codel/FQ-codel, and traffic classification.

Cake likely requires a Linux kernel version that is far more recent than AsusWRT uses, but I could be wrong.

REQUEST: Enable WAN access for Samba

Is SMB secure enough for public access? (I think not.) The probably better approach is to enable SMB locally then access it externally through a VPN.

Mining Bitcoins with Merlin/ Entware/ Optware

Like I said, the CPU is too slow. If you want to do any useful mining you need to get a hardware ASIC miner because otherwise you will likely be paying more for the electricity required to run the CPU/GPU than the money you (could) earn by successfully mining a block. Initially CPUs were used...

Mining Bitcoins with Merlin/ Entware/ Optware

That link is talking about using OpenWRT with a hardware miner. Do you have one? The CPU on the router itself is faaaaaaaar too slow to do any useful mining without an external miner.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I'm honestly confused by you (& RMerlin's) constant hard work but what most impresses me is your kindness/compassion. You are what I strive to be like (in my dreams). :) :D

Multiple Vulnerabilities in ASUS Routers [CVE-2017-5891 and CVE-2017-5892]

How is CSRF related to exposing the WebUI to the WAN? CSRF happens through the web-browser of an already logged-in WAN/LAN/whatever WebUI user. Disabling WAN access of the WebUI doesn't stop CSRF.
