    Netgear GS108Tv2 switches overkill?

I also have 2 of these switches. Paid about $69 Cdn each for mine. Set them up over a year ago with Vlans, Trunking, multiple devices connected to each, etc. never looked back, working flawlessly. I think they are great for a managed switch at that price. Take the time to read the manual, I...

RT-N66U Router restart after power failure

My N66 is configured as an access point, whenever the power fails here longer than my UPS can stay up, I also have to start it manually with the power button. All other devices connected to the UPS start on their own. My AC68 and AC87 always start on their own but are not connected to a UPS. Weird!

Private Internet Access OpenVPN Client Custom Configuration

I have been using PIA for about a week now. After reading RMerlin's post above I removed comp-lzo and verb 1 from the Custom Configuration. Everything appears fine. Initially I had followed the "Alternate Setup For Tomato" on PIA's client support website.

    NTP Daemon for ASUSWRT/Merlin

Installed this morning on RT-AC87R with Merlins 56_2. Only change I had to make was to the config file /jffs/etc/ntp.conf where I changed the line interface listen to ip.address.of.my.router You may want to add that to the wiki. Works great! Thanks

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 Beta 2 is out

Merlin, I can provide a copy of my syslog if that is what you are looking for. I may have to edit out a few things such as ssh logins etc. It does show where ntp was not syncing until I had made the wan dns settings change that seemed to kick it off and then the time was corrected. Once fixed...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 Beta 2 is out

I reported this temporary fix after I had the issue when upgrading to beta1. This morning I had the same after upgrading to beta2. The fix I suggested worked once again. This is what showed in syslog at the time I changed wan dns settings, the first 2 lines are the error that was repeating...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 Beta 1 is out

I had the exact same problem this morning on my RT-AC87R after I upgraded the firmware. Turns out I had to change the DNS servers under Advanced Settings WAN/Internet Connection/WAN DNS Setting. Once I did that ntp picked up from pool.ntp.org Not sure why this would trigger it but it worked for me.

    pool.ntp.org time not updating

I ran into this issue this morning on my RT-AC87R router after upgrading the firmware to merlin's latest beta. It resolved immediately after I changed the DNS servers I had been using for a long time. Not sure why, but thought I would post here in case someone else encounters it.

    pool.ntp.org time not updating

Guys, all I ever had to do to resolve this issue on my network was make sure that AP's or bridges have the Default Gateway set to your main router's IP under Lan Settings. After that is set the time will be set to ntp.pool.org Cheers...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.55 is now available

I have experienced unusual USB behavior this morning much the same as in post#80. After successfully running this release for several days now errors started showing up on my 32GB USB device. I ran e2fsck to correct. After this I rebooted the router and the device did not mount. Unplugged it and...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

While switching the AC87 from Router Mode to Access Point Mode I observed unusual behavior. Before switching, the router was set to IP address 192.168.2.9 for Lan. After switching to Access Point Mode even though it was given the same IP address it rebooted with an IP address of 1.1.1.1 This...

    Help from Merlin wanted

Yes it will. To the best of my knowledge, when you configure IPTV and select the ISP Profile manual, the switch_stb_x variable is set to 6. This configures ports 3 and 4 for use with set top boxes. When you set it back to 0, it configures ports 3 and 4 back to lan ports.

    Help from Merlin wanted

Not sure you have your title correct, there are many others here that can help you. However... You can enter the following from a telnet or ssh prompt and it will allow you to use them as lan ports again. nvram set switch_stb_x=0 nvram commit reboot

    User NVRAM Save/Restore Utility (R26.2)

John, first off thanks for this great much needed utility! I was perusing the "nvram.ini" file and noticed under the section [IPTV Settings], "switch_stb_x" is there twice. Is there a reason for that?
