    [Beta] RT-AC87U Firmware version 9.0.0.4.380_2695

Something is to be able to see, something else is to be able to open/write. A simple test would be to first set your android/iOS on Guest network. On a third machine (which you will not set to GUEST!) create a new txt file in a network resource. Now try via android/iOS connected to guest to...

    [Beta] RT-AC87U Firmware version 9.0.0.4.380_2695

Can't replicate here... its common that what you actually see is the cache of the previous sessions. Just reboot the system or clear the cache. :)

    [Beta] RT-AC87U Firmware version 9.0.0.4.380_2695

Have you tried to disconnect and connect again? Sounds like the same issue as parental control and present also in previous builds (i.e. by design).

Beamforming enable or disable ASUS AC87U router

On latest official firmware is ON by default... I have no problem here. On older versions there were issues with Apple devices.

    Trend Micro

AiProtection works very well here rather impressive detection rate and intelligent cloud quickly adding new sites. No impact whatsoever on the connection. On top I don't have to overcharge my system with heavy protections. A must have, not far from expensive UTM systems.:)

Setup Email preferences in AirProtection --> Alert Preference

Have you allowed IMAP/POP connection to your Gmail? https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/6323470 and if you use 2 step verification in gmail, did you generate a password for AiProtection?

Is my guest network set up wrong? Or do I just misunderstand it?

Try to clean the cache from the PC or device you use to scan the LAN. Sometime what you see is just the cache of previous session(s).

RT-AC87U current status with wifi issues?

This should improve if they ever release the new version of the firmware that is currently in beta, 5Ghz performance have greatly improved here (strength and stability), for sure better than the current official firmware. :)
