    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

Yeah Xfinity's old arris telephony gateway used to come with a battery, then they took it out, same gateway just empty batter slot and a warning sticker. The value here is more in the unlimited 4G LTE service. I wonder if they would catch on if you ran it out of your car or something 😆. I...

RT-AX3000 Error Message: "Not a Valid IP Address" for local IP - Configuring Firewall Rule

The Asus firewall will not be used then, traffic inside the VPN tunnel is configured via the VPN settings. Once connected you should have access to your whole LAN assuming it is configured correctly.

Sounds like running wires is not an option and the existing coax is likely using non-MOCA splitters, and if you can't work on it then that is not going to be of use to you. I'd just put a router with dual 5ghz at the ONT, and a single node with dual 5ghz centrally located (or even possibly a...

    Newbie Needs Clear Answers/Direction Please!

If it is coax, it will likely work, even if RG 58/59, as long as the overall distance isn't crazy long. If you aren't using it for TV you can just use couplers to create a dedicated run from point A to B. But barring that, if you are going to keep the 16000 and ET12s then you can use a...

    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

I have seen it stay up during power outages (when modem and router are on UPS obviously). All depends on what caused the outage obviously. The nodes have a DC power supply full of car batteries on a pole in the neighborhood typically. Obviously that only lasts a certain amount of time though...

As of now the keys still work so it is still a rumor, one that they've said many times over the past several years.

They're not junk by any means, I've just found all the ones with fixed internal antennas to be less than stellar coverage wise, and that's just a limitation of that design. The external antennas not only provide better signal but you know exactly how to aim them (and can see how they're aimed...

Your best bet, if possible, would be to run MOCA from the ONT ethernet port to the WAN of the router and place the router somewhere central. Depending where the coax is, you may be able to cut and add a drop somewhere, or just use couplers to make a single run out of existing runs. Even if it...

    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

In rural areas usually if the power lines are damaged the cable ones are too. I've seen times where it stays up but many others where it is down for days, or a week or more. NH has a lot of pine trees that love to snap under the weight of snow/ice. The telephony modems no longer include...

    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

Yeah I know from experience with the storms in NH where my family lives, very often the Xfinity wires get sheared along with power. Was down for a week last xmas.

    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

This isn't just battery, it includes 4G LTE (30 down / 7 up) "unlimited" service. I'm curious if you ran it for a week off your own UPS/Generator if they would cut you off at some point.

    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

From what I read you have to have one of their latest XFi gateways, which is an AIO modem/router/wifi.

    Xfinity Storm Ready WIFI

Interesting. https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/stormready If you have minimum 800M service and purchase their cellular device apparently you get unlimited cell data and 4 hour battery backup. I wonder if you add your own battery on top of that if it cuts you off at some point.

They've actually been doing this with corporate since they changed from Office 365 to MS 365. Your "seat" now includes windows, office, and email for a monthly fee. I actually assumed that 11 would adopt this model for home users. Honestly I would be surprised if they don't just make it part...

Verizon FIOS - "disappointingly" good experiences

Yeah xfinity started doing the same thing, the battery was always included, then it became an optional added expense. If I'm not mistaken I believe it was originally an FCC rule to have emergency phone service and they relaxed it now that cell phones are so prevalent, they just include a card...

Verizon FIOS - "disappointingly" good experiences

I went the opposite way, I had business class originally (moved from Comcast Business to FIOS Business after packet loss issues started on Comcast) for the static IPs and the same day repair SLA. I think it started at 50/50 (they had just barely replaced the 25/25 with 50/50 for the same price...

    Asus XT8 - Wireless Backhaul - Capping at 350Mbps on 160MHz/5GHz

100 and 116 will both overlap weather radar on 160mhz as you can see in the pic. If it was detecting radar it would drop to something below 160 but I'd give the 36-64 range a try to see if it is better. You may find you get better performance with 80mhz on a non DFS channel range.
