    Another AX88U running smoothly for 12 hours now. No Trend Micro components, just Cake-QoS. Also 2 x AX56U nodes using ethernet backhaul running without issue.

    Thanks for your hard work @RMerlin Can you confirm your latest advice regarding firmware for AiMesh nodes. Are they better also running your releases, or stock firmware (in this case also based on the same GPL version)?

    No, just perform a factory reset and allow it to reboot and stabilise for some minutes. Newer models need less time, but my RT-AC68U needed noticeably longer. Then go to your main router and try to add it in the AiMesh menus. Don't do any configuration on the RT-AC68U.

    I agree that running as APs with non-overlapping channels is better from a WiFi throughput perspective, but I miss the seamless roaming between mesh nodes that AiMesh gives and you are then dependant on the client to roam to a stronger signal. For example I have quite a few IoT devices...

    I also prefer to use fixed channels as the norm, and thought I'd found the issue when I turned off Smart Connect, but whatever is going on in my setup (after multiple factory resets and manual reconfigurations) over time is causing a node radio to go off to another channel - quite often it lands...

    A simple suggestion - wait maybe 10 minutes after the factory reset of the AC68U. I have found it takes a while to be stable before I can add mine. If I try too quickly I don't find it, or when I try to add it the first attempt fails.
