wifi 7 10gig nic router question

Yes, it'll be fine, all modern 10GBASE-T devices support NBASE-T (which is 2.5 and 5 Gbps). The issue you've seen is related to older network cards, as they don't, since they predate the NBASE-T standard.

    Anandtech closes up shop

Even youtube is too long form content these days. If it's not on tiktok, then no-one is watching it that's under the age of 25.

    Help me choose AX6600, GT-ax6000 or RT-AXe7800

GT-AX6000 out of those choices. The AXE7800 is a POS imho. No idea what the last one is.

    Anandtech closes up shop

I doubt anyone is truly surprised, the site has been going downhill content wise for a long time. Met Anand many moons ago, alongside Tom and Kyle at the first ever Computex I attended.

    European WiFi 7 Devices

You could technically end up being fined or worst case, end up in jail, if you use devices with unpermitted transmitters in them in the EU. But it's your call if it's worth the risk to you, as someone would obviously have to report you for this to happen.

Asus RT-AX86U Pro no 2.4Ghz WiFi with USB 3.0

It's very possible that when data is being transmitted over USB 3.0, you can have interference with anything on the 2.4 GHz band, but this should only happen during data transmission, otherwise it's something else that's gone wrong. Also note, that if you're using a cable, try swapping for one...

Are the new RT-BE96U / GT-BE98_PRO really worth it over my current Asus RT-AX88U?

More advanced production nodes for the chips = more expensive to make the chips = extra costs An extra radio = extra costs 2.5 or 10 Gbps ports = extra costs Useless RGB features = extra costs Hotter chips = bigger heatsinks/active cooling = extra costs More testing to pass...

    OpenWRT is supported.

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Except the author pointed out that it was a lot cheaper than competing products with the 6 GHz, yet had the same or better featureset if the 6 GHz radio was not accounted for. I would call that bias and that's coming from someone that used to review hardware professionally. Nowhere does it say...

Are the new RT-BE96U / GT-BE98_PRO really worth it over my current Asus RT-AX88U?

VPN, maybe, due to faster/more modern SoC, LAN, only if it features faster ports.

Are the new RT-BE96U / GT-BE98_PRO really worth it over my current Asus RT-AX88U?

Maybe the RT-BE88U is the way to go if you're looking at getting a new, supported router once Asus drops support for your current router?

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

So bad product because no 6GHz band... That's a bit biased by the reviewer no?

Too many options, tell me what to buy :D

No point going with a super expensive router based on your requirements. Any of the two already proposed will do the job and at least the Pro model should have longer term support. I live in a 92 square meter flat and the GT-AX6000 covers that place without a problem.

    Instant Guard - not working

    WireGuard is better.

Is now the time to go to 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps home networking?

5 Gbps switches will likely use their 10 Gbps switch IC combined with their 5 Gbps PHY's, which means 5 Gbps switches will still cost less than 10 Gbps switches, but won't be anywhere near as cheap as 2.5 Gbps switches. No-one else appears to be working on 5 Gbps switching though, making 5 Gbps...

    Intel I225-V and network switches

Unfortunately a lot of the low cost switches that are readily available in North America, cost as much as more well known brands in Europe. I picked up my TRENDnet for less than any of the xinese random brand products that Amazon sells here in Sweden. Yes, you can get some 4+1 port models on the...

    Asus AX6000 2.5Gbs port

1 Gbps, since that's my WAN port and I only have 1 Gbps internet, so that's expected, as the ISP's router in the building doesn't have faster Ethernet ports.

Did you not look at the picture? It's right there.

    Asus AX6000 2.5Gbs port

No issues here, working just fine and afaik there are no settings. Admittedly that's connected to a switch and not a NAS, but same same.

Asus AX86U Pro AX and AC on 5ghz band working with Mediatek chipsets but not Intel

@hellohi3654 I have had the same router and didn't have any issues connecting with the Intel AX210 in my desktop, nor the Intel AX1675i in my laptop, using 160 MHz channel width.
